The Brazilian conceded that that FC Goa are out of the race for the playoffs...
FC Goa suffered a shocking defeat against Atletico de Kolkata in the Indian Super League match at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Goa. With this defeat, Goa’s hopes of qualifying for the playoffs are almost over. The head coach Zico was disappointed after the loss and expressed the same. “I would like to apologize to FC Goa fans because they always supported us and always stayed by our side. I thank them on behalf of our players as well and even though we may not feature in the playoffs, we will give our best in the two remaining games,” Zico said in a disappointed tone. He further added, “We are not inferior to any other team. We had time to win the game but we were not organized and I'm very ashamed to see the team that way.” Elaborating on the performance he blamed his players for conceding the last minute goal and said, “After we drew the game, we became unorganized. In the first half, they (ATK) played much better than us. In the second half, we had our chances but we became unorganized.” The Guars still have a slight chance to qualify for the playoffs if they win the last two matches and every result in the other matches goes their way. But the Brazilian coach accepted that the chances of qualifying are minimal. “I don’t see any chances of qualifying after this defeat. Now we will focus on our remaining two matches,” the 63-year old Brazilian said. When asked about his plans for the next two matches and whether he is going to give chances to those who did not get enough playing time Zico said, “I have given all players an opportunity to play except Denzil Franco as he has been injured since the start of the season and every time I wanted to give him a chance he got injured again. We have got a game again now in three days so we will do our best and I will pick the best players available who are fit.” Photo © ISL MediaReport by Khel Now Correspondent Ravish Narvekar from Goa .
