Abhishek Yadav resigns from his role at AIFF

Abhishek Yadav has resigned from the All India Football Federation (AIFF). His resignation has not yet been accepted by the new AIFF Executive Committee. But, it is likely that the same will be duly accepted.

In 2021, Abhishek Yadav was appointed as the Deputy General Secretary of the AIFF. He was also the Director of the national teams. Apart from the aforementioned roles, Yadav had also worked as the Chief Operating Officer of the Indian U-17 FIFA World Cup team.

On the recently concluded AIFF elections

A few days ago that the AIFF elections took place. Kalyan Chaubey defeated Bhaichung Bhutia 33-1 to secure his Presidential post in the apex body of Indian football. Following this event, the AIFF's newly elected executive committee appointed Shaji Prabhakaran as the Secretary General of the AIFF. Sunando Dhar, formerly the I-League's Chief Executive Officer was appointed as the Deputy Secretary General. Dhar also acted as the Acting General Secretary and later the General Secretary during the Supreme Court and FIFA ban events.

About Abhishek Yadav

Abhishek Yadav was a former India international who played for India from 2002/03 to 2010/11. In 43 appearances for the Blue Tigers, Yadav netted nine goals.

A striker, Yadav was also used as a centre-back in the latter stages of his playing career. Speaking of his career, Yadav started proceedings with Churchill Brothers in 2000. In 2001, he shifted base to Mahindra United and stayed at the club till 2005.

The following year saw him ply his trade for ONGC and make a return to former club Mahindra United. The year 2007 marked Abhishek Yadav stepping into Mumbai FC. The Mumbaikar remained at the club till the end of his career. In between the tenure, Yadav also made his foray into the Indian Super League, where he played for Mumbai City FC.
