Mohun Bagan to kick off ACL 2 group stage against Ahal FC; check complete fixtures

Mohun Bagan’s Asian assignment will start on September 16, 2025.
The defending Indian Super League champions, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, will take on Ahal FC from Turkmenistan in a home fixture to begin their journey in the AFC Champions League 2. The club qualified for the second-tier Asian club competition after winning the Indian Super League Shield earlier this year.
The Mariners are placed in group C. The Iranian heavyweights Sepahan SC are also in the same group alongside Jordan’s Al Hussein and Ahal FC from Turkmenistan. The Mariners are currently playing in the Durand Cup where they are set to play against East Bengal FC in the quarter-final on Sunday.
A testing group for ISL champions

Mohun Bagan Super Giant have a tough task at hand. They have to be at the top of their game if they want to win matches against the clubs they have been drawn against. The Jose Molina-led side will have a tough set of fixtures, starting from September 16th. The Mariners will play their first group stage game against Turkmenistan’s Ahal FC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
The second fixture will be an away fixture for Mohun Bagan as they will travel to Iran to play Sepahan SC. Last year, the Indian club had to face elimination from the tournament because they refused to travel to Iran due to security reasons. This time, they will look to take this journey and return with points in their bag to leave last season’s disappointment behind. This match will be played on September 30, 2025.
After a break of almost a month, Mariners will clash against Jordan’s Al Hussein in another away fixture. The clash will take place on 21st October. Al Hussein are the defending champions of the Jordanian Pro League, making them a formidable opposition.
Mohun Bagan’s impressive form
The Mariners are on a great run currently in the Durand Cup. They have topped the group after winning all three games. Their attack, led by Liston Colaco, has scored 12 goals in the competition. With this blazing form, they will play against East Bengal FC in the fourth quarter-final.
The Durand Cup form will give confidence to the club, but the challenge in ACL 2 will be diverse and brutal, and should they not take their game to that level, they will face difficulties in competing with some of the best teams in Asia. The fans will be hoping for a good show this time after their dominating run in India.
