AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026: Qualification scenario for all teams ahead of the last group games!

India are at the bottom of Group C and will need a big win to go through

We are two matchrounds down in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 group stage with the race to the quarterfinals heating up.

Quite a few teams have already made it through, but places are still up for grabs in the final group stage round.

Here is how the qualifying scenarios from the three groups as teams battle it out for Asian glory and to secure a place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in Brazil:

Group A – South Korea, Australia, Phillipines, Iran

South Korea and Australia have won both their group games and have qualified for the quarterfinals in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026. Both teams will face each other in the final group game to determine who will be crowned Group A winners.

The winner of the Iran vs Philippines match will have a strong chance of going through to the quarterfinals as one of the best 3rd placed teams.

If there is a draw played out between the two nations, they will have to depend on the result between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh in Group B.

Group B – North Korea, China, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh

Group B is shaping up quite similar to how things have been in Group A. North Korea and China have won both their games and have qualified for the quarterfinals in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup. North Korea, ranked 9th in the world, have a better goal difference and will be the favorites against China in the final group game.

Both Uzbekistan and Bangladesh lost their opening games and their goal difference is poorer than the Philippines and Iran in Group A.

The winner in the match between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh will have a chance to qualify. But if the two nations play out a draw, they will be eliminated.

Group C – Japan, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, India

Japan are through to the quarterfinals on the back of their dominant 11-0 win against the Indian women’s team in the second group game. However, the rest of the teams will have to fight it out for a quarterfinals spot on the final matchday.

Vietnam will face Japan in their final group game. They are currently on three points, and even a draw will confirm qualification to the quarterfinals in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup. However, if Vietnam were to lose, they would need to avoid a heavy defeat to guarantee qualification.

Chinese Taipei face India in the final group game, and a win or draw will take them to the quarterfinals in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup. If they even lose, a 1-0 loss will surely take them through at least as one of the best third-placed teams.

As for India, all is not lost yet. The Blue Tigresses can still finish at least third if they beat Chinese Taipei by a two-goal margin in the last group game. If they manage to do so, they will finish above Chinese Taipei on Head-to-Head and could even finish second if Vietnam lose to Japan.

Group C – Points table

Chinese Taipei3-1
Vietnam30
India0-12
