The Blue Tigresses face Timor Leste in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers today.

The Indian women’s football team are all set to face Timor Leste in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers journey on the 29th of June 2025 at the 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium, Chiang Mai City, Thailand.

Timor-Leste may not be among Asia’s biggest powerhouses, but recent results show their consistent improvement. Under the guidance of Head Coach Emral bin Bustamam, they gained their first-ever point in an AFC competition with a goalless draw against Iraq.

They also held Singapore and Laos to draws in the 2024 AFF Women’s Cup, finishing in th fourth place. Even though they only defeated Singapore 2-1 in 2019, their recent performance suggests they are capable of taking on stronger opponents and that this game wouldn’t be an easy one for the Blue Tigresses

As the Blue Tigresses aim to qualify for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, the squad cannot afford to make any mistakes. The Blue Tigresses had a record-breaking 13-0 victory over the Maldives to start their qualifying campaign on a positive note. But remaining at the top of Group B will need consistency. While a win can boost the team’s morale and confidence, Even the slightest mistake from them could jeopardize their chances of qualifying.

India is third in Group B with three points, behind Thailand and Iraq. Iraq has already played twice, with their first game with Timor Leste ending in a goalless draw and defeating Mongolia 5-2. India and Thailand, on the other hand, have only played once each, defeating Timor Leste and Mongolia, respectively.

India are set to face Timor Leste for the first time today in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers. While the rankings may suggest an advantage, Coach Crispin Chettri has stated that Timor Leste will not be an easy team to face, and hence Team India will need to bring the sharpness to ensure getting all three points from the game.
