India will face Mongolia in their first AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers game on 23rd June 2025.

The Indian senior women’s team will begin their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers facing Mongolia in Chiang Mai, Thailand on June 23rd 2025

Under the guidance of Crispin Chettri, the Blue Tigresses’ main aim would be to become the first Indian squad to qualify for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup through the qualifiers route.

Blue Tigresses featured in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in the year 2003. Although the Blue Tigresses were the hosts for the 2022 edition, the COVID-19 outbreak ended up leading to their exit after just one game, with all results being declared null and void.

India are currently ranked 70th in the FIFA rankings and are in a mixed group alongside Thailand, who are ranked 46, Mongolia with a rank of 126, Timor Leste with 158 and Iraq with 173.

With only the group winner being able to secure a spot, the pressure is on Blue Tigresses to not just outperform the lower-ranked teams but also overcome Thailand, the highest-ranked team in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers group.

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 also acts as the qualifier for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.

Blue Tigresses will want to change their form, aiming to secure a victory after consecutive defeats. The Blue Tigresses will look forward to a statement win against a lower-ranked Mongolia Football Team and start their AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers campaign in a positive way.

Other than Thailand, India have never faced the other three Group B opponents earlier, which include Mongolia, Timor Leste and Iraq.
