AIFF Zonal Referees Development Officers conduct trails for referees

The AIFF trials were held in Kalyani from December 15 to 17.
The Project Future India Selection Trials Batch 2025, under the Centre of Referees Excellence (CORE) scheme, were conducted by the AIFF Zonal Referees Development Officers (ZRDO) across three venues in December 2024.
The trials were held in Kalyani, West Bengal (December 15 to 17), Ahmedabad, Gujarat (December 18 to 20), and Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala (December 20 to 22).
In Kalyani, 16 women and 13 men candidates from the East, Northeast, and North Zones participated in the trials. Meanwhile, in Ahmedabad, five women and 10 men from the West Zone took part. In Thiruvananthapuram, 10 women and 17 men from the South Zone attended the trials.
The participants were evaluated by the AIFF on parameters such as fitness, proficiency in the Laws of the Game, as well as practical match and viva voce assessments.
What is the way forward for Project Future India Selection Trials?
The selected candidates will remain under the AIFF Referees Department umbrella for two years, undergoing six modules of training, each spanning four days.
Every module under this AIFF project will be part of a residential programme, handled by the respective Zone ZRDO and an AIFF Elite Referees Instructor.
The Project Future India is an initiative aimed at developing a cadre of referees who can excel at the highest levels of the game.
The AIFF’s zonal refereeing development activities will be held across five centres, with the goal of enabling Member Associations to conduct their own referees’ development activities in line with Vision 2047.
Three venues—Kalyani, Ahmedabad, and Thiruvananthapuram—have been identified by the AIFF to host zonal refereeing development activities throughout the year. Two additional venues in the North and Northeast Zones will be finalized later as part of the same project.
