AIFF seek suggestions from Executive Committee members regarding alternate plan for ISL's future

The federation has no commercial partner yet.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has written a letter to the Executive Committee members seeking inputs on the alternate plan for the future of the Indian Super League. The Chairperson of the Bid Evaluation Committee, Justice (Retd.) L. Nageswara Rao will submit the report to the Supreme Court following the failure of AIFF to attract any bids.

The federation had set a deadline of November 7 for interested parties to submit the bid for the commercial rights of ISL. However, there were no bids submitted before the deadline. The league was scheduled to start from December 15 this year, but with no commercial partner on board, the future of the league is at risk.

Alternate plan for ISL

“As you are aware that Justice LN Rao (Retd Supreme Court Judge) is expected to give his report on the AIFF’s RFQ, structured by KPMG, for selection of a commercial partner for awarding the right to monetize commercial rights (belonging to AIFF) for a limited term,” read the letter from AIFF.

“While the matter is still sub judice, it will be mentioned by AIFF once Justice Rao submits his report. The Honourable Supreme Court may ask what alternate plans AIFF has on hand, to organise the ISL as per the Constitution.”

With the chaos around the future of the league, the players have come out in the open and expressed their disappointment. In a joint statement released on their social media handles, the players have demanded that the stakeholders take immediate steps towards breaking the deadlock.
