Super Cup to be held from October 25 to November 22 in a 'phased manner'

India’s premier cup competition is set to act as the curtain raiser for the new season.
All India Football Federation (AIFF), in a statement issued earlier on Sunday, declared its intentions of organising the Super Cup from October 25 to November 22. This marks a big step towards the return of normalcy in India Football after the indefinite suspension of the Indian Super League (ISL).
This decision has come after the virtual AIFF Executive Committee on September 6, 2025. There were multiple agendas on the table in the meeting, including the schedule of the Super Cup.
The pending AIFF constitution case had created roadblocks in the negotiations over renewal of the Master Rights Agreement (MRA) between the federation and its commercial partner, Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL).
Now, after the Supreme Court’s clearance to finalise a commercial partner, the federation is to roll out the red carpet for football action to resume.
Super Cup to be organised in a ‘phased manner’

Besides the tentative dates for the competition, AIFF also announced that the Super Cup will be held in a ‘phased manner’. The proposed tentative dates of the Super Cup overlap with the FIFA international window in the month of November. The Indian national senior men’s football team will play the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers against Bangladesh in November.
The decision to organize the tournament in a ‘phased manner’ is understood to have been taken to avoid the absence of national team players in the tournament. The unavailability of national team players will cripple the Indian Super League clubs from fielding their best squad in the competition. The FIFA international window in November starts from the 10th and concludes on the 18th of the month.

ISL Clubs in agreement with AIFF
According to reports, the majority of the ISL clubs have given their assent to the federation’s proposal of organising the Super Cup before the new ISL season. Earlier, the clubs had expressed their grievances with playing a short tournament like the Super Cup on a neutral venue without any assurance over the new ISL season.
The apex court’s interim order directing the AIFF to issue a fresh tender to finalize the commercial partner by October 15, 2025, has instilled confidence in the clubs. They have a roadmap to look forward to, and the chaos seems to be dissipating.
