The fourth largest State in the country has a lot to offer for the development of the sport.

In a positive revelation, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is set to partner with Yogi Adityanath’s office, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, to improve the overall level of football through various steps. The apex governing body for football aims to revolutionize the game in the country’s fourth-largest state, which also boasts the largest population.

In addition to having the largest population, the state of Uttar Pradesh also has a relatively young population with a median age of 21 years old. This means that there are plenty of youngsters who can become stars of tomorrow if they receive the correct guidance, ample exposure and high-quality infrastructure from a young age.

Revolutionizing football in Uttar Pradesh by AIFF

The AIFF President, Kalyan Chaubey met the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath to explore avenues that can lead to improving the overall standards of football and give the youth a pathway to chart successful careers in the sport.

The idea is to make people aware of football and reach the masses through a competitive structure. Moreover, special focus on player development is also on the cards which will certainly benefit the young footballers coming out of Uttar Pradesh and aiming to make a mark on the national stage. In addition, the AIFF also plans to promote the sport in the State which will pull the masses towards it, which is a grave need in modern times.

When it comes to football hubs in India, then West Bengal, Goa or the states in the south and the north-east are considered. Football is struggling to grip the audience in the northern states despite the existence of a few notable clubs and academies. Given the large population of this region, India has a lot of untapped talent simply waiting to be nurtured.

Inter Kashi, the I-League outfit, became the first professional club from the state of Uttar Pradesh to contest in a national-level league upon their inception in 2023. The club aim to gain promotion to the top tier of the Indian football league system, the Indian Super League (ISL).

To do so, it has acquired the services of multiple ISL title-winning coach, Antonio Lopes Habas. With AIFF’s push for the development of football in the U.P., more football clubs such as Inter Kashi and players from the state could be seen featuring at the top level.
