As hosts of the tournament, it is important for Tajikistan to have a good campaign. The team is capable of going deep into the tournament. Shakiladze has relied on experienced names, but he has also introduced some young faces to revitalise his team.

Akhtam Nazarov, the skipper, will have the responsibility to marshal the defense against dangerous attacking teams like Iran. The squad is similar to what they had in the last AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers match against the Philippines. Names like Zoir Dhuraboev and Vahdat Hanonov are experienced campaigners, and their presence in the defence lifts the quality.

In midfield, usual suspects like Parvizdzhon Umarboev and Amirbek Juraboev have again found their names in the squad. Along with them, the likes of Ehsoni Panshanbe and Alisher Shukorov will also grace the midfield.

With quality opponents in the competition, goal-scoring will be a challenge. To put goals on the scoresheet, Shakiladze has included Shahrom Samiev, Rustom Soirov, Sheriddin Boboev, and Nuriddin Khamrokulov.

Tajikistan in Group B of CAFA Nations Cup

Tajikistan have been placed in Group B. India, Iran, and Afghanistan are also in the same group, making it a tough group to top. Iran will be the favourites to reign supreme. The Asian powerhouse have been in great form in the World Cup Qualifiers. However, there have been a few occasions recently where the results have not gone in their favour.

Not just Iran, but India and Afghanistan also have the potential to disrupt things. The Indian team has been struggling in the last 12 months, but their promise can not be denied. Whereas, Afghanistan have always been a tricky side to play against, and this tournament will be no exception for them. They have always punched above their weight, and fans would be expecting some surprises from them.
