Calcutta Football League 2024: Mohammedan Sporting Club fixtures

Mohammedan Sporting Club are the defending champions of both Calcutta Football League and I-League.

The 2024-25 Indian football season kicks off on June 25, 2024, with the Calcutta Football League 2024, which features reigning champions Mohammedan Sports Club versus Wari Athletic Club at Kishore Bharati Krirangan.

One of the first football leagues in India to be played is the Calcutta Football League (CFL), which is currently ranked fifth in the pyramid. Mohammedan Sporting Club, the second-oldest club after Mohun Bagan, have been a pioneer in nurturing Indian Football.

In 1933, they got promoted for the first time in the Calcutta Football League and in 1934 they won their first-ever CFL title. Later in 1938, they became the first club to win the title five consecutive times.

Last season, during the 2023-24 tourney, Mohammedan SC lifted their maiden I-League trophy. Adjacent to their historic win, they also triumphed in the Calcutta Premier Division ‘A’ with David Lalhlansanga emerging as their highest goal scorer.

The Black Panthers won their first three CFL games, including a 7-0 victory over Calcutta FC, in which David Lalhlansanga scored a hat trick. Diamond Harbour FC ended their winning streak, which served as a wake-up call for Chernyshov’s team to improve their performance.

The Black Panthers advanced to the Super Six after winning six of their eight group-stage games and drawing the other. Mohammedan SC won 2-1 over East Bengal and finished their match with Mohun Bagan Super Giant in a dramatic 2-2 stalemate before finally being crowned the champions of the Premier Division ‘A’ 2023.
