Match Report: Durand Cup 2024: Jamshedpur FC edge past Chennaiyin FC

Durand Cup 2024: Jamshedpur FC vs Chennaiyin FC – Build-up

High-flying hosts Jamshedpur FC are set to lock horns with Chennaiyin FC for their second Group D game of the 133rd edition of the coveted Durand Cup. This fixture could very well dictate the fate of the Marina Machans, who faced a shocking defeat in the first game against Indian Army FT.

The Men of Steel look to be one of the serious contenders for Durand Cup 2024. They defeated Assam Rifles by a comfortable margin & possess a strong, experienced squad when compared to the other teams in the group. Chennaiyin FC on the other hand have landed in Jamshedpur with a young squad, filled with promising youngsters with a few proven stars.

Hosts Jamshedpur FC gave a fierce start to their campaign with an impressive three-goal win against Assam Rifles FT. A win here will help the Khalid Jamil-coached side have a strong grip on the top spot, making them the strongest contender for a quarter-final spot from Group D.

A young Chennaiyin FC squad suffered an early setback in the ongoing competition when they lost to Indian Army FT. The Noel Wilson-managed side will look to bounce back with their energetic young guns.

Lethal 20-year-old forward Mohammed Sanan has already displayed his class in the last game for Jamshedpur FC. He should be starting the game, especially after his classic brace against Assam Rifles FT.

Chennaiyins’ natural winger Alexander Romario Jesuraj is expected to cater as a wingback. He needs to stay alert for any possible threat from the opponents & also try to assist the forward line in keeping the club’s hope alive in the ongoing competition.
