FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Points Table after India's goalless draw against Afghanistan
India still have a chance to qualify for the next round of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Football enthusiasts across the globe are currently immersed in an electrifying competition as nations vie for progression to the third round of FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifications and aim to secure slots in the AFC Asian Cup 2027.
With each match, the standings in diverse groups gradually emerge, presenting a spectacle of exhilarating triumphs and unforeseen obstacles. Each country is fighting to earn a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. There has been a group of exciting matches where countries have performed exceptionally.
Let’s look at how the table stands after Matchday 3 in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Group A
In Group A, the AFC Asia Cup champions top the groups with nine points from three games. Qatar won all their matches against India, Kuwait and Afghanistan. India ranks second after a goalless draw against the Afghans securing four points from three matches. Third is Kuwait who have acquired three points with one win from three encounters. Afghanistan stands at the bottom with a point.
Group B
The Samurai Blues are the leader in the group with nine points from three games and establish their dominance. Japan is closely followed by Syria who have four points from three games and sit second in the table. Korea DPR and Myanmar are placed third and fourth respectively with three and one points respectively.
Group C
In Group C Korea Republic occupies the top spot with seven points from three games followed by Thailand who have earned four points with one win and a draw. After a shocking draw against Singapore China PR comes down to the third spot with four points from three games. Singapore after an optimistic draw against China PR stands fourth with one point.
Group D
Group D can be called the Group of Death with Oman, Kyrgyz Republic, and Malaysia being the favorites to qualify. All three countries have earned six points from three games while the goal difference separates them in the standings. While Oman leads the group, Kyrgyz Republic stands second followed by Malaysia whose GD is 0. Chinese Taipei are still on the verge of opening their points tally are sit at the bottom with zero points.
Group E
Iran seems to get better of the teams in group E closely followed by Uzbekistan. Currently, IR Iran occupies the spot with seven points from three games while Uzbekistan settles in the second spot with similar points but with a lesser GD. Hong Kong and Turkmenistan have one point each and stand third and fourth respectively.
Group F
Asian heavyweights Iraq are the dominant force in the group and they stand at the top of the group with nine points from three games. Iraq is followed by Indonesia who have earned four points from three matches. Vietnam are placed third in the table with one win out of the three games and the Philippines are the last boy of the group with one point.
Group G
Saudi Arabia have marked their supremacy by securing the top spot in Group G by winning all three games. Jordan and Tajikistan are locked with the same points from three matches. While Tajikistan stands second and Jordan third concerning their GDs. Pakistan are yet to win a game and are placed in the bottom with 0 points.
Group H
In Group H United Arab Emirates are off to a flying start with three wins in a row. They top the group currently with nine points. Bahrain are second with six points from three games and will hope to clinch that second spot. Yemen have earned three points from three matches and are placed third. Nepal is still struggling to find a win with zero points and is positioned bottom of the league table.
Group I
The final Group I witnesses Australia occupying the top spot with nine points from three games. Palestine are second with four points which includes one victory and a draw. Lebanon are third in the group with two draws earning two points. Bangladesh sits at the bottom of the group with one point from three matches.
