India slips to 24th in AFC club rankings after continental struggles

Indonesia and Cambodia are ahead, as India sees a sharp mid-season drop
India slumps to 24th in the AFC club rankings as Indian club football has reached a new low point in continental glory. The rich football culture, history regarding football, love and the passion about the game in India have been one of the key points that show you how energetic and passionate the footballing culture is in India.
But right now, India drops to 24th in the AFC men’s club rankings as other countries like Indonesia and Cambodia move ahead. This could generally impact the future of Indian football as it will affect the upcoming continental slots.
India has dropped six places to sit on 24th ranking

As announced by the AFC, the mid-season rankings were out for the 2025/26 season. This ranking is based generally on the performance of clubs in a country, the domestic run and also their performance in the continental competitions over the past years, as well as how they played in tournaments like the AFC Champions League and the AFC Cup.
These rankings have changed significantly because of the disqualification of Mohun Bagan Super Giants from ACL 2. After they refused to travel to Iran for the matches, the AFC officially notified about their stance. FC Goa had a very decent campaign in the AFC Champions League 2.
India is now placed 24 th with 20.6 points. Several Asian nations like Indonesia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, and Turkmenistan have moved ahead of India in the mid-season table. This is a very major concern that can affect Indian club football.
As the new season begins, the Indian clubs will get a chance to improve their point rankings in the upcoming AFC fixtures.
