India U20 Women's team fall short against Karlbergs BK

Late comeback by Karlbergs BK seals a win despite the India U20 Women team’s strong start
The India U20 women’s team lost 1-2 at the hands of Swedish club Karlbergs BK at the Bosön National Sports Centre in Lidingö, Sweden, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, with Neha’s second-half opener ultimately cancelled out by a swift Swedish comeback.
After a tightly contested first half, India broke the deadlock in the 56th minute through Neha, who put the Young Tigresses ahead with a composed finish.
However, the hosts responded almost immediately, finding the equalizer just a couple of minutes later. Karlbergs carried the momentum forward and netted the winner in the 72nd minute to seal the victory.
The deadlock broken

The India U20 Women’s Team head coach, Joakim Alexandersson, made four changes to his starting XI from the last game against Enskede IK Dam, which they drew 1-1. Earlier, India had lost to Hammarby IF (0-6) and defeated Täby FK (4-0).
Despite the defeat, the Young Tigresses improved organization and attacking intent, especially in the second half where they created multiple forward moves. Neha remained a constant threat in the attacking third, while the midfield worked hard to maintain possession against a physically strong opposition. However, defensive lapses in quick succession proved costly as Karlbergs capitalized on their chances.
The exposure tour continues to serve as a crucial learning curve for the Indian side, offering valuable experience against European opposition and helping the squad adapt to a faster, more physical style of play.
The India U20s will play their next match on March 5, 2026, against Älvsjö AIK Fotboll, at 01:00 IST.
