India U20 women’s team begins Sweden tour with four key friendlies
The India U20 women’s national team have stepped up preparations for the upcoming AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026. Young tigresses are set to battle in the tournament with high hopes, as women’s football gradually increases in India.
The Indian team is set to play a series of four friendly matches in Sweden against four Swedish clubs to gel the atmosphere of the team. These matches come after a string of preparatory outings, where the team focused on building match fitness and understanding between them ahead of the AFC Asian Cup 2026.
Who will India U20 women play?
The Young Tigresses will take on the senior teams of Hammarby IF on February 19, Täby FK on February 22, Enskede IK Dam on February 25, and Karlbergs BK on February 28 as part of their preparations for April’s AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup in Thailand.
In the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup, India has drawn with Australia, Japan and Chinese Taipei. They have a tough group C alongside Japan, as they will open their campaign against them on April 2. Followed by clashes against Australia on April 5 and Chinese Taipei on April 8.
This will be tricky, and also a tough group to compete with, the Indian team. That’s why, as preparations, they are set to play four friendly matches that will help them to build focus. The Exposure in Sweden will play a key role in strengthening the squad
