India vs Mauritius Player Ratings: Lyndsay Rose & Mootoo shine as Liston, Chhangte disappoint | Intercontinental Cup 2024
The Blue Tigers failed to impress as Manolo Marquez’s reign started blandly.
India were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Mauritius in the first game of the 2024 Intercontinental Cup at the GMC Balayogi Stadium, Hyderabad on Tuesday (September 3).
The Blue Tigers failed to show any spark in Manolo Marquez’s first game and saw their attacking threat neutralized by a stubborn Mauritius side. Here are Khel Now’s player ratings from the game.
Mauritius (by Uttiyo Sarkar)
Jean Louis Obrian (GK) – 7.5
Jean Louis wasn’t tested as much as expected but made some sharp saves to frustrate the host. Did well coming off his line to fend away trouble at times.
Jordan Francois – 8.0
Francois was a sturdy figure on the right, keeping Liston Colaco quiet with solid marking and aggressive tackles. Didn’t do much going forward, but fulfilled his defensive duties diligently by making clutch challenges.
Lyndsay Rose – 8.0
The Mauritius skipper held together a formidable defensive line that India found tough to penetrate. Came up big with his clutch clearances many times and used his physicality to win the majority of duels.
Dylan Collard – 7.5
Just like his skipper, Collard was a rock at the back and read the Indian attacking moves well. Cut out the danger with multiple key clearances and interceptions.
Wilson Mootoo – 8.5
Mootoo did an admirable job against the dangerous Chhangte, not allowing him to play his natural game by being stuck in with his defending. The left-back made some vital clearances and smart challenges to avert danger.
Emmanuel Rudy – 6.0
Rudy couldn’t provide much in a creative sense, but at least did well in protecting his backline. Did well to trouble the Indian midfielders and win duels with aggressive challenges.
Gabriel Caliste – 6.5
Caliste was an energetic figure in the middle, covering quite a lot of ground to cut out India’s supply line through the middle. Moved the ball around nicely and made a few nice passes to spark decent attacks.
Jeremy Villeneuve – 6.5
Villeneuve was a threat with his smart off-the-ball movement and pressing. He showed positive energy in the Indian half and created a few nice chances with his impressive delivery.
Adrian Francois – 5.5
Francois made a few nice runs through the right wing, making Jay Gupta work hard. Provided decent defensive cover but was unable to create anything major.
Jean Yannick Aristide – 7.0
The left-winger caused a lot of trouble to Asish Rai with his sparky movement and dribbling ability through the left. Aristide delivered a few inviting passes into the final third but was unlucky to have nothing come off it.
Quentin Lalsing – 6.5
The wily striker troubled the centre-backs with his smart off-the-ball movement. Got into a few promising areas and made Amrinder work, nearly scoring before his substitution.
Substitutes
Marie Francois – 6.5
The proactive centre-forward got in between the Indian defenders well on a few occasions, causing trouble in the box. Saw an open header go wide in the second half.
Adrien Botlar – 6.0
Botlar troubled the exhausted Indian backline with his blistering movement in the final third, but his final product was a bit awry.
Jean Adriano – 6.0
Adrian added a bit more physicality and sturdiness in midfield and in helping the backline sustain pressure.
Louis Rita – N/R
Rita couldn’t help give Mauritius that extra edge after coming on to allow his side to clinch a late goal.
Alex Ferre – N/R
Quite ineffective with his late cameo.
India (By Praketh Reddy)
Amrinder Singh – 6.5
Amrinder had a good outing with a clean sheet and did well to man India’s goal, keeping Mauritius at bay.
Ashish Rai – 6.5
Ashish Rai was quick and made sure he limited the Mauritius attack on the right-hand side. He won his duels but didn’t create much in attack.
Rahul Bheke 6.5
Performed his duties well, and was sometimes hesitant on the ball but seemed to position himself well defensively.
Chinglensana Singh – 7.0
Had a good chance and the first chance of the game early on but missed his chance from a header in the first half, he won his duels and kept the Mauritius attack to limited chances. Overall had a decent game in his comeback.
Jay Gupta – 7.0
In the initial few minutes, Jay Gupta was one of the few players who went attacking into the opponent’s half. He performed his duties to his best, in the second half just before he got substituted he missed a golden chance to give India the lead by shooting his header wide.
Apuia Ralte – 6.5
Apuia failed to create much but performed his duties well. He was sometimes lost in midfield and looked out of position.
Jeakson Singh – 6.0
Jeakson performed his duties to the best of his capabilities. He worked hard in midfield but was mainly non-existent during the attack. He had a few shots on goal but they were harmless.
Anirudh Thapa – 6.0
Created a good chance in the first half, and was defensively solid. But apart from that failed to impact the game much getting substituted at half-time.
Lallianzuala Chhangte – 6.5
Chhangte tried to create something on the right flank in the first half but failed to do so. He maintained the pace of his game in the second half but he could not get the ball much to create significant impact.
Manvir Singh – 6.5
Manvir had the best chance of the game for India, doing well to be onside, and forcing a good save from the keeper. He otherwise made good runs into the box but failed to receive much service.
Liston Colaco – 5.5
Liston had a poor outing to show and could only last 45 minutes, failing to create much on the flank.
Substitutes
Sahal Abdul Samad – 6.0
Came on in the second half to create an impact on the game but had a disappointing half. He could not get the ball much and when he did failed to deliver any chance.
Nandhakumar – 6.0

Suresh Wangjam – 6.5
Coming on in the second half, Suresh Improved the pace of the game as he brought in fresh legs, and performed his duties well.
Subhashish Bose – N/A
Nikhil Poojary – N/A
