ISL 2025-26: Kerala Blasters FC rope Jai Quitongo as their final foreign signing

The Scottish forward joins Kerala Blasters as their sixth foreigner.

Kerala Blasters FC have completed the signing of the 29-year-old striker Jai Quitongo from Scotland. With this signing, the Blasters have completed their foreign roster as Jai joins as the sixth foreigner after Marlon, Victor Yoke, Victor, Oumar Bah, and Matias Hernandes. Jai will now strengthen the Blasters’ offensive unit along with the Spaniard Victor Bertamou in the ISL 2025-26 campaign.

Jai joins the Blasters on a short-term deal, running until the end of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 season.

“We are happy to welcome Jai to the Blasters! Hopefully, he will be able to contribute to the team and make this season a success for himself and for the club,” said Kerala Blasters FC CEO, Abhik Chatterjee

“I’m delighted and honoured to be able to represent Kerala Blasters. I hope to bring success and joyful moments to all the fans who support this beautiful club,” Jai spoke after joining the Blasters

Jai will play a key role in sharpening the Blasters’ attack

Jai Quitongo

Jai Quitongo is a 29-year-old striker from Wishaw, Scotland. He started his professional career at a local club, Hamilton A, where he played during his U17 days. He moved to Aberdeen FC for the U20 career and later to Greenock U20 during the 2015/16 season.

Later, the player signed for Morton, where he played for two years, before moving to Partick Thistle in 2018. In late 2020, he made a move outside Europe to join Iranian club Machine Sazi, where he had a brief stint. He returned to Greece and signed with Queen’s Park before joining hands with his former team, Morton, in 2022, which also happened to be the last club he played for in Greece.

In the 24/25 season, he was roped by Marsaxlokk, a team playing in the first tier of Malta. In October 2025, he signed for Tarxien, and after spending around 4 months there, Jai has now signed for the Blasters as the last foreigner in their international roster.

Bringing in diverse professional careers across Europe and beyond, bringing versatility, physicality, and experience to the club’s attacking unit. Quitongo can operate as a centre-forward and on either flank, adding tactical flexibility to our forward options.

What does Jai bring to the table for the Blasters?

The Kerala Blasters’ offensive unit was the area that had undergone a significant revamp ahead of this season. The new incomings in the offensive unit included French striker Kevin Yoke, Spaniard Victor Bertomeu, and Salahudheen Adnan.

Muhammed Ajsal was promoted to the senior team following a remarkable Super League Kerala season. Nihal Sudheesh is also with the Blasters after his loan stint at Punjab FC. Korou Singh, Sreekuttan and Amawia are a part of last year’s squad.

However, despite this, the Blasters failed to craft a meaningful attack in their opening match against Mohun Bagan Super Giant. The offensive unit was so beaten that the Blasters failed to register even a single shot on target, a first time occurence in the history of the league.

Adding to the dismay, their Spanish striker Victor was seen limping in the final minutes of the game and was subbed off. As a result, Blasters required a striker, and this is when Jai joined to reinforce the broken attacking unit of the men in yellow.

Standing tall at 1.8 metres, Jai’s speed and physicality during the transition and counterattacks will help the Tuskers to craft some meaningful attacks in the final third. Coming from the mild temperature of Malta to the tropical Indian atmosphere, if Jai can adapt quickly and combine well with his teammates, he could fill the void left in the attacking unit of the Blasters.
