Mohun Bagan SG retained all of their foreign players

Mohun Bagan Super Giant is gearing up to successfully defend their crown in the 2025-26 Indian Super League campaign, which kicks off on February 14 at home for the Mariners.

The Mariners boast one of the strongest squads for any team in the competition, having retained much of their players that helped them win the ISL double in the previous campaign.

The Kolkata giants have gained a reputation for playing clinical, attacking football and they were able to blow away the majority of their opponents under Jose Molina last season. However, Sergio Lobera’s arrival sparks a new era for Mohun Bagan SG, who look to maintain their domination in the ISL by enjoying a successful campaign ahead.

The Mariners didn’t really spend all that big in the 2025 summer transfer window, opting to only strengthening some key areas in the squad. Irrespective of that, Mohun Bagan SG have sturdy options all over the pitch and boast an impressive squad depth that should help them strongly compete for the ISL title in the 2025-26 season.

With that being said, let’s look at the Mohun Bagan SG roster for the 2025-26 ISL campaign, including those who have joined before the season begins.

Goalkeepers

Vishal Kaith remains Mohun Bagan SG’s undisputed no.1 option after a wonderful 2024-25 campaign, having helped them keep 15 clean sheets in the ISL. Mohun Bagan SG lost Arsh Anwer in the 2025 summer window after his contract expired with them, allowing the goalkeeper to join Kerala Blasters instead.

As a result, Syed Zahid has been promoted to the no.2 position in the goalkeeper’s pecking order at Mohun Bagan SG. He should be there as a backup for Kaith, who is expected to start all the matches in the 2025-26 ISL campaign after his heroics in the previous one.

Defenders

Mohun Bagan SG have had a shake-up in their defensive options before the beginning of the 2025-26 season, with some notable names being added to the squad. Mohun Bagan SG paid a handsome fee for the signing of promising left-back Abhishek Singh from Punjab FC in the 2025 summer window, and he should compete with Subhasish Bose for the left-back spot in the upcoming campaign.

On top of that, Mehtab Singh was also signed by Mohun Bagan from Mumbai City. He will add more depth to their centre-back and right-back positions, enabling them to potentially field one Indian centre-back and use a foreigner player in another position with ease.

Mohun Bagan SG allowed defenders like Ravi Rana, Saurabh Bhanwala and Nuno Reis to leave the club before the 2025-26 season. However, the likes of Tom Aldred, Alberto Rodriguez and Asish Rai remain important defensive options heading into the upcoming campaign.

Midfielders

When it comes to their midfield line, Mohun Bagan SG basically have the same options as they did from the 2024-25 season. The Mariners opted to allow Greg Stewart to leave the club after the end of the previous campaign, and Sibajit Singh was also allowed to depart in the 2025 summer window.

Mohun Bagan SG are still relying on their experienced midfielders like Lalengmawia Ralte, Anirudh Thapa, Sahal Abdul Samad and Deepak Tangri to help them dominate the midfield battles in the upcoming 2025-26 ISL campaign after seeing them impress in the previous campaign.

Forwards

Mohun Bagan SG did improve their frontline with the signing of Brazilian winger Robson Robinho, who was brought in as a replacement for Greg Stewart in the 2025 summer window. Moreover, the Mariners also brought Kiyan Nassiri back into the club, adding more versatility and squad depth to their options.

Sergio Lobera will be able to rely on the services of the likes of Jason Cummings, Jamie Maclaren and Dimitri Petratos, who remain devoted to the club’s success ahead of the 2025-26 ISL campaign. Moreover, Manvir Singh and Liston Colaco remain the important winger options for the Mariners, while the promising young striker – Suhail Bhat – really adds more explosiveness in their goal-scoring options for the next campaign.
