FC Goa edged past Mumbai City FC 2-0 in ISL

Kerala Blasters continued their unbeaten run with a statement 2-0 win over Jamshedpur FC at home in ISL. The Blasters brought their best game to the table and took down an in-form Jamshedpur FC side in front of their loyal fans.

Karim Benarif set up Nihal Sudheesh who broke the deadlock in the 12th minute with a header before Francisco Feuillassier assisted Vibin Mohanan for the second goal. The Red Miners could not restore parity and dropped three crucial points.

FC Goa stunned Mumbai City FC in today’s second game and moved up in the points table. The Gaurs looked very good throughout the game and did not allow the Islanders any chances to score a goal.

Sahil Tavora opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a right footed shot before Muhammed Nemil’s left footed screamer sealed the deal for the hosts late in the first half.

A brief look at the points table

Despite tonight’s loss Mumbai City FC continue to lead the pack with 18 points while Mohun Bagan SG retained the second spot with 17 points. FC Goa have been promoted to third with 16 points. East Bengal and Bengaluru FC have dropped down to fourth and fifth respectively with 15 points each while Jamshedpur FC have been relegated to sixth.

Punjab FC hold the seventh spot with eleven points while Inter Kashi took the eighth position with eleven points as well. SC Delhi have not moved from the ninth spot with eight points.

Chennaiyin FC are still ranked tenth with eight points. Kerala Blasters have come up to eleventh with eight points. NorthEast United FC and Odisha FC are ranked twelfth and thirteenth respectively. Meanwhile, Mohammedan Sporting still find themselves at the bottom of the table.

• Anirudh Thapa (Mohun Bagan SG) – 2 assists
• Madih Talal (Jamshedpur FC) – 2 assists
