The Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27, the newest season has knocking on the door. As the last ISL season already ended just a couple of months ago, the new year and the new season have been on the cards.
Many clubs have already started to plan their signings and their pre-season camps for the next season.
As per the AIFF’s schedule, the ISL 2026-27 season will run from 4th September 2026 to 11th April 2027. After the last season’s short-term season, with many problems, the league will set out to begin with its new charm, as it will be a seven-month-long league.
Although no official confirmation has yet been received from the All India Football Federation (AIFF), they have proposed a tentative Indian football schedule in which the new 2026-27 season will start with the Durand Cup, followed by the new Indian Super League season.
ISL 2026-27 season is set to run for seven months
A new and fresh season is in the making as the AIFF, Sports Ministry, along with stakeholders and the clubs’ representatives, have attended many meetings recently after the last 2025-26 season to clarify the future of Indian Football and the ISL.
And right now, it is visibly clear that the ISL 2026-27 season will run with a traditional seven-month-long period from 4th September 2026 to April 2027.
Looking back to the last season, we can see many problems and dilemmas regarding the administrative issues and clubs taking from the league structure. As there was a 13-game short-season league, East Bengal came out at the top to clinch their first-ever ISL trophy under Oscar Bruzon.
Many clubs have already started their planning for the next season, as Mohun Bagan leads the race as they have signed Samir Zeljković from Punjab FC and Dezan Drazic from FC Goa. With the Durand Cup, the new season is expected to start from 11th July, 2026.
Recap of the ISL 2025-26 season
The last season of the ISL was for the Red and Gold Brigade as they clinched the title for the first time. Under the guidance of Oscar Bruzon, they have won the trophy with a very dominant display, and players like Youssef, Miguel Figuera, Kevin, and Anwar Ali made the team’s way very smooth with their performances.
Mohun Bagan, Punjab FC, and Mumbai City FC all have their chances to become the champion, but the Torchbearers made up for it with better results when it needed the most. And it’s the time for the new season where fans can surely enjoy the ISL with much more time and more energy.
