No bidders for ISL tender as Indian Football faces major setback

ISL set to begin with AIFF mandating minimum broadcast standards.

With the Indian Super League (ISL) set to begin its new season, the All-India Football Federation (AIFF) has put in place a set of minimum broadcast production requirements for all matches. These guidelines are designed to ensure a consistent, high-quality world feed across venues, regardless of the host broadcaster.

The framework is based on existing ISL practices and AFC competition standards, with the objective of streamlining production workflows and match coverage across the league.

Requirements mentioned

ISL trophy

Mandatory 10 men camera setup for all ISL matches

Each ISL match will be produced using a minimum 10-camera setup, including 8 manned cameras and 2 unmanned units behind the goals to ensure full on-field coverage.

3 cameras will operate along the center line to follow the flow of play, while 2 offside cameras will be used to capture close offside calls and support accurate replays.

Behind-the-Goal, VIP and Handheld Coverage

The guidelines also require 2 unmanned cameras behind each goal to provide additional angles for goals, penalties, and key goalmouth moments.

A reverse or VIP camera will capture crowd reactions and bench activity, while a handheld camera will be used for player walkouts, celebrations, and post-match moments, adding to the overall broadcast experience.

Provision for High Corner/Drone Camera

Where venue conditions and approvals permit, a high-corner or drone camera may also be used. This angle offers a wider tactical view, helping viewers better understand team shapes, set-piece setups, and the overall flow of the game from above.

Ensuring Uniform Broadcast Standards

By putting these minimum production standards in place, the AIFF aims to maintain the quality and global presentation of the Indian Super League.

A standardized approach ensures a consistent viewing experience for broadcasters, clubs, sponsors, and fans throughout the season.
