Bengaluru FC will be looking for revenge against the underperforming Juggernauts.

Indian Super League (ISL) club Bengaluru FC will be determined to get all three points in matchweek 18 when they face Odisha FC on Wednesday. It is a completely different encounter from the reverse fixture where both sides looked invincible early in the season.

The game witnessed the Juggernauts emerge 4-2 victors and handing Gerard Zaragoza’s men their second loss of the season. With both teams showcasing mid-season struggles and each team desperate for a win, the encounter promises to deliver once again.

The Stakes

Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC have struggled a lot in their last five games in the league and have only recorded one win during that period. The previous match against Hyderabad FC saw them earn themselves a point courtesy of Sunil Chhetri’s goal in the 78th minute. Keeping clean sheets has been a struggle for the Blues this season, with their last clean sheet coming in a 1-0 win over Punjab FC in matchweek 5.

A win for the Blues will be a massive morale boost for Zaragoza’s men and will end their three-game winless run. However, a loss can significantly dent their playoff aspirations and potentially see them fall out of the coveted top-six spots.

Odisha FC

The Juggernauts’ recent form mirrors their upcoming opponents in matchweek 18 having recorded one win, two draws, and two losses in their last five outings. The previous match against Kerala Blasters FC saw them drop three points as they slumped to a 3-2 loss despite taking an early goal lead. Similar to the Blues, the Juggernauts will be looking to end their four-game winless streak.

A win for Odisha will be a massive morale boost for Sergio Lobera’s men and will end their three-game winless run. However, a loss can significantly halt their playoff aspirations and struggle towards the end of the season.

Injury & Team News

Bengaluru FC will enter the match with a full squad as there are no injury concerns or suspensions for the team. Roy Krishna will be missing for Odisha FC after picking up a season-ending cruciate ligament injury during match week 10.

Players To Watch Out For

Sunil Chhetri (Bengaluru FC)

The 40-year-old club captain reached 10 goals for the season with his 78th minute equalizer against Hyderabad FC. Despite going goalless in his two previous outings, Chhetri stepped up when his team wanted his goals. Despite being in the twilight years of his legendary career, the Blues striker still possesses the hunger he has shown throughout his career.

Against Hyderabad, he showed why he is still the man for the big occasions and will be once again taking centre stage against Odisha.

Dorielton (Odisha FC)

Since joining the club in early January, Dorielton has been sensational for his side. In three appearances this season, he has provided two goals and an assist for his side. While his latest goal came in losing efforts to Kerala Blasters FC, he still remains a huge positive in a tough run of games.

The Juggernauts will be hoping for more of the same from the 34-year-old striker when he takes the field against the Blues. Stopping Dorielton’s progress in the attacking phases of play will be crucial for the Blues and Gerard Zaragoza in a must-win game.
