The goal was the equaliser in the ISL final.
Jorge Pereyra Diaz’s goal in the 2023-24 Indian Super League final against Mohun Bagan, now renders Mumbai City FC as only the second team in the ISL, to score 300 goals, with FC Goa taking up the first place with a tally of 346 goals.
The goal that takes them up to this milestone is quite a significant one, as it makes the scores level for Mumbai in the 2023-24 ISL final.
A brilliant ball by Alberto Noguera left Mohun Bagan’s defence in a fragile situation, which was perfectly capitalised upon by Argentine attacker Jorge Pereyra Diaz, who with his intricate movements, went past Subhasish Bose, and scored the goal.
Mumbai City FC’s journey across the years
Mumbai City FC have also been at the centre stage of the ISL. Having played the first ever ISL game, Mumbai hold a position of prestige which only a few other clubs have.
The Islanders had a difficult time in their intital two seasons, but in 2016, Mumbai City FC led by Diego Forlan were a completely different entity, and finished the season on the top of the table.
In their first season after the City Football Group takeover, Mumbai City FC did the ISL Double, by winning both the ISL Shield, as well as the ISL Trophy.
Since then, the club has never looked back, and has seen seamless growth in the coming years.
The club added another ISL Shield to their name in the 2022-23 season, but narrowly missed out on the same in this edition.
