Hyderabad FC will miss the services of Joao Victor and Mark Zothunpuia.

After an intense showdown with NorthEast United FC, Thangboi Sinto’s Hyderabad FC hits the road again, fueled by a desire for redemption. They eagerly anticipate a thrilling encounter against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday.

Despite the awaited first victory, Hyderabad FC has consistently showcased commendable performances. The latest game resulted in a hard-fought draw, symbolizing the team’s resilience and determination even in the face of adversity.

Let’s see what Head Coach Thangboi Singto and Striker Joseph Sunny spoke to the media.

On their performance against NorthEast United FC

Hyderabad FC, still in pursuit of their maiden victory, displayed resilience in their recent clash against NorthEast United FC. Despite the ongoing quest for their first win, The Nawabs fought hard, managing to equalize and secure a draw in the match.

“It was a hard-fought and a well-deserved one point, but if we look at the previous games against East Bengal and Bengaluru, we could have scored a point there too probably if we were a little more focused. It was a big boost for everyone involved. I know it’s not enough but at this juncture, even one point will act as a breather and a feel-good factor,” Singto said.

On missing their key players for this match

Hyderabad FC will face a midfield challenge in their upcoming fixture as captain Joao Victor and Mark Zothunpuia are set to serve suspensions due to yellow card accumulation. The absence of these key players in the middle of the park poses a potential hurdle for the team, raising questions about how the squad will adapt to their temporary absence.

The tactician addressed the absence of these key players stating, “When Joao and Mark play together, the team shows a lot of control on the pitch. But Joao was not with us against Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru, so we know what we have to do. Mark not playing is a bigger loss for us, just in the sense that he is versatile and can fit in anywhere. We are training well and trying out a new midfield triangle.” Thanboi Singto added,” Let’s see what can work out. I trust the boys to perform to the best of their potential”

On facing Chennaiyin FC

The upcoming clash holds significant stakes for both teams. Hyderabad FC, in pursuit of their inaugural victory, faces a determined Chennaiyin FC side. Meanwhile, Chennaiyin FC seeks a crucial win to solidify their standing in the top six race.

“For me, this match might be the biggest challenge for us because some of their foreign players are very strong; their Indian players, are good too, but I have told the boys that this game has to be about us and we need to focus on what we want to achieve in it and we want to come back home with a win and smiles all around,” The Hyderabad FC manager asserted.

On Makan Chothe’s goal

Makan Chothe stepped into the role of a false 9 due to a minor injury to the regular striker. Remarkably, Chothe seized the opportunity and scored a goal from this unconventional position.

“We don’t fight for the positions in our team. We only fight for points. Chothe played that game since I had an injury and had a good day. Now, I have to improve and show what I can do. I will try my level best to do that. For every game, we are trying our best to pick up all the three points” Joseph asserted.

Regarding his availability

The Kerala-born youngster also confirmed that he has recovered from his injury and is available to play against Chennayin FC. “I am very happy for Makan Chothe because he scored a goal. Similarly, if I score, I am sure he will be happy for me as well, We are all happy for each other in the dressing room. I have recovered from my injury and I am fit to play against Chennaiyin FC,” Sunny confirmed.
