Mohun Bagan eye a crucial win against Inter Kashi in the ISL title race at home

Habas steps down as Inter Kashi head coach ahead of the Mohun Bagan clash

Mohun Bagan are desperate to getting back to winning ways in the Indian Super League (ISL) when they host Inter Kashi in their next match-up at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata on Tuesday (12 May, 2026).

With the Mariners now needing to win all their remaining matches to have a strong chance of lifting the ISL title at the end of the campaign, they need to produce a clinical effort against a struggling Inter Kashi side at home.

The Stakes

Mohun Bagan

Three things Mohun Bagan must improve to fight their way to winning 2025-26 ISL title

Mohun Bagan are no longer in total control of the 2025-26 ISL title race, as their recent 1-1 draw against FC Goa has kept them behind East Bengal at the top of the table. The Mariners now need to focus on finishing their campaign with a bang, and they can start that with a dominant win over Inter Kashi.

Sergio Lobera needs to have his side at their dominant best in this clash, which means not only dominating possession but also converting their chances clinically to improve their goal difference. A crushing win for Mohun Bagan in front of their home fans can definitely be a confidence-booster for the players, but anything but that would see them fall into a precarious position in the title race ahead of the crunch Kolkata derby clash.

Inter Kashi

Inter Kashi has witnessed their form fall off over the last few weeks, which has caused them to fall far away from the top-6 in the league table. Even though it’s not been a disastrous debut campaign in the ISL for the side, Inter Kashi desperately needs a positive result to improve the gloomy atmosphere within the squad.

Moreover, Inter Kashi also needs to take their chances in a clinical manner to be able to get a positive result at the Salt Lake Stadium. Any points acquired from this game would be a major achievement for Inter Kashi and give some self-belief to the players. But another crushing loss in the ISL would see their confidence levels further plummet.

Team News

Mohun Bagan are still without their right-back Asish Rai, who has already been ruled out for the rest of the campaign. Even though there were a few forced substitutions in the FC Goa clash, Lobera should have that same squad available for the upcoming clash.

For Inter Kashi

, Mario Barco is still a major doubt as he recovers from his injury troubles. Wayne Vaz is also set to miss this game after being sent off in the last game against NorthEast United.

Head-to-Head Record

This will be the first-time that Mohun Bagan and Inter Kashi meet each other in the ISL.

Predicted Lineups

Mohun Bagan (4-2-3-1)

Vishal Kaith (GK), Abhishek Singh,  Mehtab Singh, Tom Aldred, Subhasish Bose, Lalengmawia Ralte, Deepak Tangri, Liston Colaco, Dimitri Petratos, Robson Robinho, Jamie Maclaren

Inter Kashi (4-3-3)

Shubham Dhas (GK), Aritra Das, Narendra Gahlot, Sandip Mandi, Nishu Kumar, Sergio Llamas, Jayesh Rane, Sumeet Passi, Mohammed Khan, Rohit Danu, Alfred Planas

Players to Watch

Liston Colaco (Mohun Bagan)

Liston Colaco might be exciting to watch for Mohun Bagan, but he’s lacked that consistency to help take the Mariners’ attacking prowess to a whole new level this season. He has only managed three goal contributions (one goal, two assists) in 10 ISL matches so far this campaign, and remains without a goal contribution in his last three matches for the Mariners.

With Mohun Bagan desperately in need of a boost in goals, Colaco needs to up his own game in terms of his work in the final third. Liston’s dribbling prowess might not be doubted, but he needs to be way smarter with his decision-making and crossing quality to deliver better passes into the box. He’ll also look to get into more goal-scoring situations against Inter Kashi to torment them, and will hope to guide his side to a commanding win.

Alfred Planas (Inter Kashi)

Alfred Planas has proven himself to be a pretty good signing for Inter Kashi, being arguably their most clinical player in the 2025-26 ISL campaign. The 30-year-old forward is their top scorer with four goals and an assist in the competition so far, which includes his crucial goals in wins over Kerala Blasters and Chennaiyin FC! Planas will now look to show just how good he can be with a prolific display against the defending champions, as he aims to trouble the Mariners’ backline.

He’ll aim to be tricky with his off-the-ball movement to get into more goal-scoring positions inside the area, but the Spaniard needs to be at his ruthless best in smartly converting any chances that come his way to be able to increase Inter Kashi’s chances of getting a shock result.

  • Jason Cummings is averaging the highest shots per 90 minutes (6.2) as well as shots on target per 90 (2.2) in the 2025-26 ISL.

  • Vishal Kaith has managed a 78.1% save percentage in the ongoing ISL campaign, the joint-most for any goalkeeper.
