Mumbai City FC captain Rahul Bheke becomes only the sixth player in ISL history to make 150 appearances. The veteran completes this incredible feat by making an appreacnece in the ISL final, wherein he can even add to his trophy cabinet to further glorify the significance of this game.
Bheke first played in the ISL back in 2015, when he joined Kerala Blasters FC on loan. His first appearance came against NorthEast United FC, which ended in a 1-0 win for the Blasters, marking the start of a sensational tale, that would unfold beautifully in the years to come.
With time, Bheke played for a number of clubs across the league, marking stints at clubs like Pune City FC, Bengaluru FC and his current club Mumbai City FC.
In the 2018-19 season, Bheke won the ISL title with Bengaluru FC, and was the sole goal-scorer in that game. He scored a looping header late into the game, to hand Bengaluru FC their maiden ISL title.
Bheke’s tenure with the Western Blues was a turning point in his career, and the four-season stint with the club moulded him into the player he is today.
Rahul Bheke earned his first call-up to the Indian national team in 2019, a significant milestone in his career. He made his international debut against Curacao in an international friendly under the guidance of head coach Igor Stimac. Since then, Bheke has become a key player for the Blue Tigers, showcasing his skills and contributing to the national team’s defensive line-up.
Now playing as the skipper of Mumbai City FC, Rahul Bheke acts as a key figure in one of ISL’s most recognised clubs. The defender has also grown in stature and is now a key figure for the Blue Tigers as well.
