Odisha FC fought till the end down to 10 men.

Mumbai City FC were held at their fortress by Odisha FC on the sixth matchday of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season.

The Islanders conceded after a poor pass from Valpuia and an even worse control from Lachenpa Phurba saw Roy Krishna pounce on the opportunity to give Sergio Lobera’s men the advantage. However, Mumbai City FC replied through a Nikolas Karelis goal scored from a cross by Lallianzuala Chhangte.

The draw leaves Odisha FC in seventh place while Mumbai City FC in ninth place on the table. Let’s take a look at the ratings from the game played at the Mumbai Football Arena.

Mumbai City FC (by Shivam Tiwari)

Phurba Lachenpa – 5.0

Mumbai City FC conceded a goal because the goalkeeper couldn’t control Valpuia’s long pass. His passing was otherwise precise, and he had very little to do. He finished the game with just one save.

Mehtab Singh – 5.5

Mehtab Singh finished the game with the most successful passes (59). He otherwise had a very quiet game with little involvement. The centre-back finished with five recoveries and one clearance.

Valpuia – 5.0

It can be argued that Valpuia was the bigger culprit of him and Lachenpa Phurba for conceding the goal. He was the more offensive full-back of the two Mumbai City FC played with. He finished the game with seven long balls completed and six passes in the final third.

Nathan Rodrigues – 6.0

The left-back was taken off in the 60th minute as part of the double substitution with Sahil Panwar replacing him. Nathan had no contributions in the attack directly as he finished the game with 0 xG + xA. However, his one-two plays with Jon Toral and Jayesh Rane helped the Islanders progress the ball.

Jayesh Rane – 5.5

Jayesh Rane had a very ordinary game by his standards. He did create two chances but they combined for only 0.10 xA. He did however help Mumbai progress the ball from the left by combining with Vikram Pratap Singh and Nathan Rodrigues.

Vikram Pratap Singh – 6.5

Vikram Pratap Singh justified his inclusion into the starting XI ahead of his senior colleagues. He had two cutbacks that could have put Odisha FC into trouble. He also had a penalty call not given in his favor. A very eventful game for him, but he was subbed out for PN Noufal.

Lallianzuala Chhangte – 7.5

Perhaps the best Indian player of Mumbai City FC on the day, Chhangte provided the assist for the equalizer. He was sharp and quick to provide himself as an outlet on the right. He had a cross that the Islanders almost scored from in the second half.

Substitutions

Sahil Panwar – 6.0

Sahil Panwar was an upgrade over the youngster Nathan Rodrigues, going forward. He registered a shot and had two successful long balls completed.

PN Noufal – 6.0

PN Noufal had a cross that Nikolas Karelis failed to convert. He was lively and didn’t shy from moving inside from the left.

Odisha FC Ratings (By Gourav Samal)

Amrinder Singh – 7

Irrespective of the goal in the first half, Amrinder Singh made some fabulous saves throughout the match and led the team quite well.

Amey Ranawade – 6.5

Ranawade controlled the right flank in the match and made some clinical clearances at crucial stages of the match.

Jerry Lalrinzuala – 6

Jerry received a yellow in the first half of the play which somewhat put a brake on his aggressive attempt to tackle the ball.

Puitea – 6.5

Puitea’s presence in the minefield helped Odisha FC to maintain the pace of the game. He looked to be drained out, even for a few seconds.

Rahim Ali – 6.5

Rahim made some great efforts to create chances for his team from the right flank, unfortunately, none of those were converted.

Raynier Fernandes – 6

Raynier also received a yellow card in the 34th minute of play which also slowed down his game in the match as he became cautious.

Isak Vanlalruatfela – 7

Isak was the best Indian player for OFC in the match. He kept on charging ahead generating chances for his team and taking shots at the target on several occasions.

Substitutes

Saviour Gama – 6

Gama replaced Jerry at the start of the second half but wasn’t very effective during his time on the pitch.

Rohit Kumar – 5.5

Rohit Kumar replaced Raynier Fernandes in the 66th minute of play. Although he made some aggressive attempts to create chances but was regularly blocked by Mumbai’s defense.

Jerry Mawihmingthanga – N/A
