As 2025 begins, Nikhil Poojary’s Bengaluru FC will aim to start their Indian Super League (ISL) campaign with a victory against Jamshedpur FC, at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur on 04th January 2025.
Bengaluru FC have enjoyed a strong start to the ISL season, currently occupying second place in the league standings. Their campaign has been characterized by a remarkable level of consistency, with eight victories and only two defeats reflecting their impressive form.
Their impressive form has been built on a foundation of consistent performances, highlighted by a robust defense. Nikhil Poojary a key figure in the backline, has been instrumental in maintaining this defensive solidity, playing a crucial role in their success.

Nikhil Poojary’s thoughts
Nikhil Poojary had moved to Bengaluru FC from Hyderabad FC in the winter transfer window of the previous season. Not only has he quickly adapted to Bengaluru FC’s atmosphere, but he proved his skill and flair and is one of the regular starters for the Blues. The defender addressed how his teammates have made it easier for him to undergo the transition.
“As a player, it has been smooth for me because as a player, you need players around you to play well. So, in Bengaluru FC, we have that. We have top players around me. I have wonderful players around me to support me. I have a wonderful staff to make it easy for me to play my natural game.”
“I have Rahul Bheke who is playing just beside me. Ryan Williams who is playing on the right wing, and Alberto Noguera who is a great midfielder. So, when you have such players around you, it makes your game easy. You can play without fear, without any pressure,” Nikhil Poojary stated.
Bengaluru FC’s head coach Gerard Zaragoza had also acknowledged that Jamshedpur FC are not an easy team to play against. In agreement with the coach, this is what Nikhil Poojary commented.
“As the coach said, Jamshedpur FC are a difficult team to play against at home. They have one point more than what we have in our home. Which speaks a lot about their home record. And they are top players. I think as a fullback, I need to be aware of all the wingers.”
“They have a nice set of wingers in them. Imran had one assist against us at the dying moment last year. Sanan is doing well. Scored an amazing goal in one game. And also Hrithvik, who is on the bench, started the last game after a long time. But he is one of the best wingers they have. So it will be a good challenge for me and our team,” Nikhil Poojary concluded.
