Jamshedpur FC defender PC Laldinpuia has caught the attention of many ISL clubs.

Plenty of new faces have left a good impression but few have had an impact similar to PC Laldinpuia in his Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 season. The young Mizo sensation has been integral to everything positive in Jamshedpur’s ISL campaign.

PC Laldinpuia, the versatile defender who rose through the ranks of the I-League, has become a hot commodity in the ISL after a few solid seasons with Jamshedpur FC.

With 101 duels won and 35 interceptions in the 20 appearances for Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League 2023-24, Laldinpuia has raised eyebrows aplenty. Laldinpuia emerged as a fan favorite in the 2023-24 ISL season, dazzling with his technical skills, exceptional game-reading, and expert defending. His influence went beyond defense, contributing a noteworthy 557 successful passes and even finding the net himself.

Several ISL clubs are likely keeping a close eye on the young talent, and here are three potential suitors for Laldinpuia in the upcoming season.

3. Mohammedan Sporting

Having secured a promotion to the ISL, Mohammedan Sporting are embarking on a new chapter. While their primary focus will be on survival, they also have an eye on building a team for the future. Laldinpuia could be a perfect fit for their long-term vision.

Mohammedan Sporting boast a young and promising squad. Laldinpuia would perfectly complement the existing youthful core. His experience in the I-League and the ISL would provide valuable guidance to the younger players in the squad.

Unlike the other two options, Mohammedan Sporting might not offer immediate competition for established players. This consistent playing time could help him further refine his skills and potentially attract bigger clubs in the future.

Mohammedan Sporting, with their focus on youth development, could be the ideal platform for Laldinpuia to take the next step in his career. He could become a leader on the pitch while contributing significantly to the club’s fight for survival and future success in the ISL.

2. NorthEast United FC

NorthEast United FC have been brilliant this season under coach Juan Pedro Benali. Although injuries and inconsistencies plagued their defense, leading to a string of disappointing results. With some key departures expected, Laldinpuia could emerge as a vital addition to their backline.

NorthEast United often lacked a strong central defensive partnership. Laldinpuia’s ability to marshal the defense and organize the backline would be a welcome addition. His attacking ability will also be beneficial in the lineup with speedy wingers in the side.

Laldinpuia’s arrival could also provide a much-needed boost to their North Eastern contingent. Having a fellow Mizo player in the squad could create a positive team environment and foster a sense of belonging for Laldinpuia, potentially leading to quicker adaptation and improved performances.

1. East Bengal

East Bengal’s performances have improved a lot under Carles Cuadrat this season. However, defensive frailties often overshadowed their attacking prowess. With East Bengal playing the preliminary round of the AFC Champions League 2 will look to strengthen their backline. Laldinpuia’s arrival could be the missing piece in their backline puzzle.

Known for his composure, tackling prowess, and ability to play across the back four, Laldinpuia would provide much-needed stability. His experience in the I-League with Aizawl FC, coupled with his time at Jamshedpur FC, has equipped him with the temperament to handle the high-pressure environment of the ISL.

East Bengal’s current defensive setup relies heavily on experienced veterans. While their leadership is invaluable, Laldinpuia could offer a fresh perspective and a long-term solution. He could learn from the seasoned campaigners and develop his game under a manager like Carles Cuadrat, who has a reputation for nurturing young talent.
