Roy Krishna is currently the leading top scorer in ISL 2023-24.

Roy Krishna has been selected to join his National team squad for two friendly matches against the Solomon Islands, scheduled to take place on the 18th and 21st of March this year.

Roy, who has been a crucial contributor to Odisha FC’s achievements this season, has received the call-up for national duty. The Fijian’s last appearance for his country was in November 2023, during a match against Vanuatu in the Football at the Pacific Games. However, he was not included in the squad for Fiji’s subsequent two matches.

Roy’s international record

Roy Krishna made his international debut in August 2007 against Tuvalu. In his inaugural match, he impressively scored three goals, making a significant statement to the selectors and the football community.

To date, Roy has appeared in 50 matches for his country, scoring 35 goals and providing three assists. His most recent best display came against Tahiti in November 2023, during which he netted three goals throughout the match.

Roy’s performance this season

Playing for Odisha FC, Roy Krishna has demonstrated exceptional performance, showcasing remarkable control over the majority of the games. Throughout this season, he has achieved the impressive feat of scoring 12 goals, placing him as the leading goal scorer in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24. Additionally, he has contributed one assist to the league.

As a testament to his outstanding performance, his club has advanced to the final of the Super Cup 2024 and has also secured a position in the subsequent round of the ISL.

Will Roy’s absence impact his club?

The Indian Super League (ISL) is currently on a brief hiatus as India’s 2026 second-round World Cup qualifier matches are set to take place next week. The ISL is scheduled to recommence on the 30th of March, with the first match featuring Odisha FC’s encounter with Bengaluru FC.
