Hyderabad FC's Shameel Chembakath shares his thoughts against Mumbai City FC

Shameel Chembakath’s side came back to face the Islanders after a defeat against Odisha FC

Shameel Chembakath’s Hyderabad FC face Mumbai City FC as they clash at the GMC Balayogi Stadium Hyderabad on the 19th of February 2025 in the upcoming gameweek of the Indian Super League.

This crucial encounter holds immense significance for both Hyderabad FC and Mumbai City FC. For Hyderabad, a victory is needed to avoid slipping further down the table. Every point is vital in their fight for survival. Meanwhile, Mumbai City FC who are a club accustomed to competing for the top honours, find themselves battling to maintain their playoff aspirations.

A win is imperative to keep their championship hopes alive and solidify their position in the playoff race. The stakes are undeniably high for both teams making this a must-win encounter for both the teams.

Hyderabad FC’s Interim head coach Shameel Chembakath spoke to the media at the pre-match press conference and expressed his thoughts.

Coach Shameel’s thoughts

“One of the things which we have worked on is more on how we need to keep possession of our game. It’s more about playing smart and sticking to our plan. I know there will be many situations when we are keeping the ball and controlling the positions. There will be a lot of pressure. We just need to focus on how we tackle them and get a solution on that which is more important. I think we have worked on that and we are focused on that.I am sure that the players will do that and take this challenge as positive. Whatever positive thing which we had in the last few matches, we wanted to take it back on the next match” He stated.

“Similarly, like Odisha, I would say that Mumbai City has an attacking threat. They have a lot of set pieces variation which they always do against the opponents. I think we are prepared well for that and we had a match against them in the reverse fixture. So we have analysed their strength and the new players which they have now. For me, the rest of the part is how we play on the pitch which is more important. I think most of the things which we have covered and we are focused on for the next match.” He concluded
