Both teams fought till the end of the game.
The opening game of Saturday’s Indian Super League (ISL) doubleheader witnessed Mumbai City FC return to winning ways with a hard-fought win against Hyderabad FC. It was a game of few and fair chances where Mehtab Singh’s lone goal stood as the point of difference between the two sides. It was a much-needed victory for the defending champions and will serve as a confidence booster for them.
In the second match, Mohun Bagan came out on top against Chennaiyin FC and now find themselves at the top of the table. Both teams brought their best defensive game to the table and neutralized each other’s attacking moves until Mohun Bagan edged the Marina Machans in the 86th minute. Greg Stewart hit the woodwork once before setting up Jason Cummings for a late winner.
