Hyderabad FC endured a humiliating 6-0 defeat at the hands of Odisha FC.
Odisha FC put on a clinical display, dismantling Thangboi Singto’s Hyderabad FC 6-0 in their clash at the GMC Balayogi Stadium, Hyderabad. The Juggernauts exploited Hyderabad’s defensive errors, scoring six goals in a dominant performance in their away fixture of the Indian Super League.
Odisha FC dominated the game from the outset, capitalizing on Hyderabad FC’s defensive errors to score early goals. By halftime, they were in the lead with a score of 2-0. Hyderabad FC struggled to create meaningful attacking opportunities, unable to contain Odisha’s attacking threat and conceded four more goals in the second half.
Hyderabad FC head coach Thangboi Singto took full responsibility for the team’s performance and emphasized the need for improvement.
Thangboi Singto’s thoughts
“I think before the game we spoke about the break. There are two things here. Maybe the break was too long or maybe we were dwelling too much on the win against Kerala Blasters. But I think this loss is on me. I think I wasn’t good enough. But why did the mistakes happen? Why were the players not sharp enough? That’s where I feel the onus is on me” Thangboi Singto stated.
Thangboi Singto opined, “Because according to me the players have tried their best on the pitch. Maybe they were not fresh or the training sessions were not intense enough. All of this stuff I need to go back and study myself first. Because today was the day where I think it was one of the worst defeats in my career. Indeed it was a tough day.”
Despite creating a few half-chances, Hyderabad FC lacked the edge in the final third, failing to convert their opportunities into goals.
“But the goals we conceded, I think out of the six goals, maybe at least three or four were just given away. So, well, we have to do better individually and as a team. But seven shots on target today, I think was one of the highest in terms of target shots. Attacking-wise, we have created chances but it wasn’t enough But yes, today is a day we need to plan better.
“We need to pull up the socks, me, the staff, even the players. It’s going to be tough, but we have to keep looking forward and hope for the best. Frankly speaking, it’s not going to be easy to forget this game.
But We can’t hide from all the situations, because as professionals the blame is first on me, and of course the responsibility followed by everybody involved. So, all I can say to the team is that it has been a bad night, but we will try to forget this as much as possible, as quickly as possible,” Thangboi Singto concluded.
