This will be the eleventh edition of the Indian Super League

The 2024-25 season of the Indian Super League(ISL) promises to be the biggest in ISL history. The season will officially begin on September 13, 2024, marking the start of the league 132 days after the previous season ended on 4th May.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant will start as the reigning ISL League Winners’ Shield holders. The Mariners topped the league last season with a league-high 48 points to win their first League Shield.

Meanwhile, Mumbai City FC are the reigning ISL Cup winner, defeating Mohun Bagan 3-1 in the ISL Cup final last season to secure their second Cup title. Mohammedan SC, the 2023-24 I-League Champions who were promoted to the top tier of Indian professional football, will be one of 13 teams competing in the league this season. The competition will feature 13 teams for the first time in this edition.

Matches will be played in the home and away format and for the first time, all three Kolkata giants (Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, and Mohammedan) will participate in the ISL.

Teams with the most points at the end of the league stage will get entry into the group stages of AFC Champions League 2 next year. The top two teams will also qualify directly for the ISL semi-finals while the team ranked from third to sixth will vie for the remaining two spots via knockout games.
