Having secured all three points from their opening encounter, Jamshedpur FC welcomed Mumbai City FC in match week two of the 2024-25 ISL season to the Furnace. On the other hand, the Islanders faced the Red Miners as they sat in 10th after a disappointing opening in match week 1 against Mohun Bagan.
It was Jamshedpur FC, who came out on top against the Islanders courtesy of a brace from Javi Hernandez and a goal from Jordan Murray, which cancelled out goals from Niko Karelis and Yoell Van Nieff heroics on the night in Jamshedpur. It was a perfect night for the Red Miners, who recorded another impressive win over Mumbai City FC.

Jamshedpur FC 0-3 Mumbai City FC (8th March 2024)
The two ISL teams met at the Furnace during the 2023-24 season, where both teams initially played out a 1-1 draw. Despite being placed sixth in the ISL league standings, Jamshedpur proved to be a tough opponent for Mumbai City FC.
However, it was later discovered that Jamshedpur had violated the league’s foreign players limit during the match due to their failure to field seven domestic players. While the Islanders would eventually finish second, the Red Miners will go on to finish their underwhelming season with 21 points in 22 games.

The first meeting between the two sides during the 2023-24 season of the Indian Super League saw the Islanders succumb to one of their shock losses at home to the Red Miners. The 2-3 loss to Jamshedpur was a humbling experience for the Islanders, who would turn it around to finish second at the end of the season.
Goals in the second half from Imran Khan and a brace from Jeremy Manzorro was enough for Jamshedpur to script a historic win in Mumbai.

The two sides met each other for the final time during the 2022-23 ISL campaign that witnessed Mumbai triumph over Jamshedpur despite going down 1-0 behind from a Boris Singh goal. The game, which ended 1-2 courtesy of goals from Lallianzuala Chhangte and Vikram Partap Singh ensuring all three points for the Islanders.
A damning result for Jamshedpur, who finished 10th in the ISL league standings with 19 points from 20 league games. The game underscored the result of how the season will transpire for both Jamshedpur and Mumbai in the coming weeks.
