The India U20 team were the defending champion of this competition, as they won four titles, followed by Nepal who won two times. Bangladesh also won the 2024 SAFF U20 title.

In the first group, Group A, there are four nations, including the Maldives, as they are the hosts of the tournament.

With them, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka will be in the group. On the other side, Group B includes the three best teams in this tournament, as India and Pakistan are in the same group with Bangladesh.
