The world’s third highest active goal-scorer in international football and India’s captain Sunil Chhetri announced that he will play his last game for the nation in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers clash against Kuwait in Kolkata on June 6.
Chhetri took to his social media and announced his retirement from the national team through a video message. “And the moment I told myself first, that yes, this is the game that is going to be my last, is when I started recollecting everything,” he said.
The 39-year-old is by far the best that India has ever produced and surely there won’t be anyone like him in a very very long time. Chhetri bids goodbye to the blue jersey after playing 150 games and scoring 94 goals over the last two decades.
