Kannur Warriors FC vs Thrissur Magic FC Preview, team news, lineups & prediction | Super League Kerala 2025

The Warriors will play their first-ever Super League Kerala match at Kannur.

It’s time for a heavyweight clash in the Super League Kerala. Unbeaten Kannur Warriors FC will face Thrissur Magic FC, who are on a three-match winning streak, for the final matchday of Round 5 fixtures. The match will take place on Friday, November 7, at the Jawahar Municipal Stadium, Talap, for the first time in the history of Super League Kerala.

The tournament is officially halfway over, and both teams will be looking for a crucial win that will take them to the top of the table mid-season. The clash between the Warriors and the Magicians would definitely take the fans to the edge of their seat.

The Stakes

Kannur Warriors FC

For the Kannur Warriors FC, the match is all about pride and consistency. On one hand, they would be playing their first-ever game at Kannur since the inception of the Super League Kerala.

Last season, the Warriors shifted their base from Malappuram to Kochi to Calicut, and their passionate fans followed them everywhere. Now, playing the match at their real home, this is a good opportunity for the team to provide positive results to the fans and build a strong fortress.

Apart from this, they would also be keen on keeping their unbeaten streak in the league. The Warriors are currently placed third with two wins and two draws. A win would take them to the top of the table with 11 points and almost secure their spot in the Super League Kerala playoffs.

Thrissur Magic FC

For the Thrissur Magic FC, the stakes are pretty much the same. Of the two teams, Thrissur will be full of confidence. Despite losing their first match, they have clinched wins in their last three games against Forca Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram Kombans, and Calicut FC.

Having played all four matches away from home, Thrissur would be relieved to play their final away game of the season, as all their remaining five matches will be played at their home ground, providing them with home advantage.

Currently, Thrissur Magic FC are placed second in the Super League Kerala table with nine points, and either a draw or a win would crown them as the table toppers midway through the season, which would provide them with a huge psychological boost ahead of the remainder of the tournament and would potentially seal their berth in the knockouts.

Team News

Both Kannur Warriors and Thrissur Magic FC have no major injury or suspension concerns ahead of the Super League Kerala clash.

Player to Watch Out For

Kannur Warriors FC – Asier Gomes

The Warriors’ Spanish midfielder is the central figure in the attacking initiatives. Following an impressive performance in the first edition of the Super League Kerala, the Warriors reached the semi-final. Gomes was one of three players the club retained for the second edition of the tournament.

The midfielder’s ability to act as a link between the defence and the attack makes him a potent threat under head coach Manuel Sanchez’s tried and tested setup.

In this season, Gomes has made his impact felt in the game against Kochi. The player came as a substitute in the second half and linked up with Adrian Sardinero. He provided an assist and found the vital win for his side.

In their previous match against Calicut FC, Gomes scored the equaliser in the 38th minute to hold the game to a draw and help his team fetch one point. If the midfielder can create combination plays in the match against Thrissur, he could potentially create an upset at the Jawahar Municipal Stadium.

Thrissur Magic FC – Kamaludheen

The Magicians U23 goalkeeper, Kamaludheen A K, has emerged as the cornerstone of their resilient defensive setup in the Super League Kerala 2025.

Apart from Thrissur’s strong attacking unit, Kamaludheen’s consistent performances have also helped the team top the points table in the initial stages of the tournament. In four appearances, the keeper has held three clean sheets, made nine vital saves, and has only conceded one goal so far.

The ex-East Bengal Reserves keeper’s excellent performance between the sticks for Thrissur Magic FC in the Super League Kerala earned him a worthy call-up under head coach Naushad Moosa for the India U23 probables for the match against Thailand.
