Super League Kerala 2025 Final: Kannur Warriors FC vs Thrissur Magic FC Preview, team news, lineups & predictions

Kannur Warriors and Thrissur Magic FC will play their first-ever Super League Kerala Final
The stage is set for one last battle as the Kannur Warriors FC are all geared up to host Thrissur Magic FC for the ultimate Super League Kerala 2025 Final. On Friday, 19th December, all roads will lead to the Jawahar Municipal Stadium as either the Warriors or the Magicians will be crowned the Champions of Kerala for the first time ever in the Super League Kerala history.
When either team faced each other in their final round fixtures, it was the Warriors who had the final laugh, a vital victory which helped them to qualify for the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, Kannur Warriors FC edged past the defending champions at the EMS Corporation Stadium with a narrow 1-0 victory, courtesy of Sinan, who scored the solitary goal of the match. Thrissur Magic FC, on the other hand, earned a thumping victory against the strong Malappuram FC side at their home soil.
The Magicians comfortably dominated against Malappuram FC in every aspect of the game and clinched the victory with a 3-1 scoreline, thanks to their Trinidad and Tobago striker Marcus Joseph. With both teams eying their debut silverware, the hopes and excitement are high, and so are the stakes for the Super League Kerala Final.
The Stakes
Kannur Warriors FC

Kannur Warriors came into the semi-finals on the finest of margins. Despite being one of the only unbeaten teams midway through the season, the relatively large number of draws kept them haggling throughout the season. With 13 points at the end of the group stage fixtures, they were almost on the verge of elimination until they took the wild card entry into the semi-finals, occupying the fourth position.
The Warriors, knowing exactly what the feeling of losing out is, hence gave their best shot in the semi-finals against the defending champions, Calicut FC. In the knockout clash, all odds were against Kannur. Calicut were playing the semi-final on their home soil after an eight-game unbeaten streak, out of which they won their last six matches. Warriors, on the other side, missed their key striker, Adrian Sardinero, due to an injury. Additionally, their loss in the previous meeting potentially added an extra psychological pressure upon the visiting side.
However, in the semi-final match, Kannur Warriors played their best football and dominated Calicut FC for the vast majority of the match. Despite the continuous pressure from the Kozhikode fans, they kept going and won a penalty, courtesy of Asier Gomes. This was then converted by Sinan, who silenced the crowd and sealed the spot in the Super League Kerala final for Kannur Warriors FC.
The Warriors have brushed off the disappointment of getting knocked out of the semi-finals in the Super League Kerala 2024. However, a big challenge awaits them, and it is the strong Thrissur Magic FC side. If Kannur can yet again turn the tables, it could erupt the Jawahar Municipal Stadium crowd and mark the Warriorsâ first Super League Kerala title.
Thrissur Magic FC

If there is one team apart from Calicut FC that has asserted its dominance in the Super League Kerala 2025, it is Thrissur Magic FC without any doubt. After a losing start to the Super League Kerala 2025 season, Thrissur had their breakthrough victory against Calicut FC in the second round. Since then, there was no looking back for the Magicians. With 17 points at the end of the league stage fixtures, Thrissur ended the season in the second position.
In the Semi-Final 2, Thrissur locked horns against Malappuram FC, the same team that defeated them in their opening fixture. In the crucial knockout match, it was the sheer dominance from the side of Thrissur that completely numbed the Malappuram FC players and secured them the victory.
Thrissur came onto the pitch with a few changes. One of the biggest surprises was benching Ivan Markovic instead of Marcus Joseph. However, this strategy from Andrey Chernyshov turned out to be the lucky charm for the Magicians. The veteran striker netted three goals to secure the second Super League Kerala final spot to face Kannur in the ultimate battle.
Around a fortnight ago, Thrissur and Kannur locked horns against each other. On that occasion, it was the Warriors who bagged the three points. Moreover, Thrissur have not won any matches against Kannur Warriors FC, in the history of Super League Kerala. Hence, the stakes for the Magicians are simple. Deploy their best eleven, bring out their best performance to win against the Warriors for the first-time ever and take home their maiden Super League Kerala title.
Team News
Both Thrissur Magic FC and Kannur Warriors are expected to deploy their best eleven for the Super League Kerala 2025 Finals, as there are no major injury concerns or suspensions for either side.
Player To Watch Out For
Muhammed Sinan and Marcus Joseph, the two players who crafted the semi-final victory for their respective teams, will be the players to watch out for in the Super League Kerala 2025 Finals.
Kannur Warriors FC â Muhammed Sinan
The bright spark of the Kannur Warriors, their U23 striker Muhammed Sinan, would be the key player to watch out for in their Super League Kerala Final against Thrissur Magic FC. Sinan, with his uncanny ability to craft some brilliant attacking initiatives, have piled up pressure upon the opponents and forced errors from their side during many key instances. This has seen Sinan netting in four goals for his side, and assisting on three occasions to become the Warriorsâ top scorer in the Super League Kerala 2025.
The striker combined well with his Spanish duo, Adrian Sardinero and Asier Gomes, to produce some positive results for his side.
However, with speculations regarding Adrian Sardineroâs availability for the finals, Sinan will have to put in an extra effort to help the Warriors clinch their first Super League Kerala silverware. In the last match, it was the Sinan-Gomes combination that paved the way for Kannur to qualify for the finals.
Asier made a good run, penetrating the Calicut FC defence to win a penalty. Sinan stepped up to take the penalty and converted it into a goal with calm and composure. This solitary goal helped the Warriors to edge past the table toppers and move towards the final battle.
Thrissur Magic FC â Marcus Joseph
Marcus Joseph is not a new name in Indian Football. The Trinidad and Tobago striker, with vast experience in Indian Football, joined the forces of Thrissur Magic FC ahead of the 2025 season of the Super League Kerala. With a stellar performance in the I-League, scoring 42 goals and assisting 14 times in his 66 appearances, Marcus was considered one of the best signings of the league and was expected to be a top contender for the Golden Boot.
However, things were not easy for the veteran. Marcus struggled to perform in the league and made just five appearances for the Magicians. With just 465 recorded minutes in the group stage, failed to find the back of the net and create a significant impact for his side.
But, in the semi-finals, when things mattered the most, the Thrissur Magic FC fans got a glimpse of how Marcus could actually perform.
Head coach Andrey Chernyshov made a bold move of benching the in-form Ivan Markovic to start Marcus in the starting eleven. This strategy paid dividends in the 26th minute, when Marcus broke the deadlock to mark his first Super League Kerala goal and provide the hosts with the advantage. Later, in the second half, the striker displayed a superior level of awareness and netted in two more goals to seal the berth for Thrissur Magic FC in the Super League Kerala finals, for the first-time ever.
