Thrissur Magic FC defeat Malappuram FC 2-1 to end their unbeaten-streak in Super League Kerala

Thrissur are on a five-match unbeaten streak in the Super League Kerala 2025
Thrissur Magic FC earned a dominating 2-1 victory against the in-form Malappuram FC in the final matchday of the Round 6 fixtures of the Super League Kerala 2025 at the Corporation Stadium, Thrissur. With this win, Thrissur are at the top of the table with 13 points, and Malappuram remain in the third position with 10 points.
In the first half, Ivan Markovic found the back of the net in the fourth minute off a powerful volley to provide the hosts with an advantage. However, just a minute later, Kennedy scored the equaliser after slotting the ball into the top corner to bring the score back on level terms. In the 27th minute, after continuous attacks, Thrissur scored the second goal of the match off Faiaz to provide Thrissur Magic FC with the lead.
In the second half, though Malappuram FC tried all their might to breach the net, their efforts were completely neutralised by the Thrissur Magic FC backline spearheaded by Kattimani, and at full-time, Thrissur Magic FC sealed a victory in their first-ever Super League Kerala 2025 home match.
Lethal Thrissur Scores Twice
Thrissur got off to an electrifying start in their first-ever Super League Kerala home match as they found the back of the net just in the fourth minute of the game. The star of their previous match, Bibin Ajayan, ventured deep into the final third and deployed a beautiful ball into the 18-yard box to Ivan Markovic, who found the back of the net with a banger volley to erupt the Thrissur crowd.
However, the elation of the hosts did not last long as John Kennedy displayed his silky moves with the ball to make a mockery of all the Thrissur defenders and whack in a ball into the top corner to bring the scores back to level terms. From then on, Faiaz and Umashankar tested Mohammed Azhar with powerful shots and kept Malappuram on alert.
In the 27th minute, Bibin Ajayan yet again whipped in an excellent cross, which Faiaz, with his presence of mind, slotted into the goal to score and provide Thrissur with the advantage, marking the first occasion where Thrissur scored more than a goal in a match. In the dying minutes of the first half, Tejas missed an open goal, and at half-time, Thrissur Magic FC were leading 2-1 over Malappuram.
Thrissur break Malappuram’s unbeaten record

Thrissur started the second half with an increased purpose as Ivan Markovic found the back of the net just in the early minute, which, to his dismay, was ruled offside. Thrissur continued to initiate their lethal attacks forward whenever they had the ball with them, while Malappuram FC struggled to put the hosts in trouble. As the minutes ticked by, Malappuram slowly started to test the Thrissur backline, courtesy of Ishan Pandita and Abdul Hakku.
However, despite multiple aggressive attempts to breach the Thrissur net, the hosts defended resiliently and put their bodies on the line to prevent Malappuram from scoring the equaliser. In the 69th minute, Abdul Hakku got one of the best chances of the second half, which, to the relief of Thrissur, was effectively carried by the experienced Kattimani.
No matter how Malappuram FC tried to attack, all of those attempts were neutralised by the hosts, which helped Thrissur Magic earn a hard-fought victory and break the unbeaten streak of Malappuram. With this win, Thrissur are at the top of the table with 14 points, and Malappuram remain in the third position with 10 points.
