Indian football team head coach Igor Stimac unveiled the initial roster of 26 potential players for the Bhubaneswar training camp, marking the commencement of preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2 clashes against Kuwait and Qatar. A subsequent list of probables is expected to be revealed in the imminent days, thereby magnifying the squad’s configuration in readiness for the forthcoming challenges ahead.
The Blue Tigers are set to commence their training camp in the Odisha capital on May 10. Following this, they will engage in a pivotal clash against Kuwait in Kolkata on June 6, followed by a challenging fixture against Qatar in Doha on June 11, marking the culmination of their Group A campaign. Currently occupying the second spot in the group standings, Igor Stimac’s side have accumulated four points from four matches. The top two teams from the group will secure passage to Round 3 of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, simultaneously securing their qualification for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027.
