Indian football team's last five meetings against Bangladesh

India will take on Bangladesh on November 18.
The Indian football team will be determined to leave the setback of not qualifying for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup behind and start the transition on a victorious note against Bangladesh on November 18. After losing the first four matches, this will be an opportunity for India to avoid finishing the qualifiers without a point.
India and Bangladesh have had some close contests in the past, and the next one between them in Dhaka can be another thrilling affair. Both teams are going through a rough patch, and a positive result is all that they will be playing for on Tuesday.
In this article, we will look at what happened in the last five meetings between India and Bangladesh.
India vs Bangladesh, 2-2 (5 March 2014)
This friendly affair ended in a dramatic stalemate. It was a typical Sunil Chhetri performance as the former India captain steadied his team, but India’s defensive lapses allowed Bangladesh to claw their way back into the game.
Sunil opened the scoring for India in the 14th minute, to which Bangladesh replied with an equaliser courtesy of Mithun Chowdhury’s goal.
The Blue Tigers suffered a shock in the second half when Arnab Mondal scored an own goal, squandering the lead. However, it was Chhetri’s grit that kept his team in the game with an equaliser in the 90th minute. The match ended with Subrata Pal being shown a red card.
India vs Bangladesh, 1-1 (15 October 2019)
Another match between the two that ended in neither team emerging as a decisive winner. This match had a lot riding on it for both teams, as it was a FIFA World Cup Qualifier in front of a packed crowd at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata.
The visitors stunned the crowd with a late opener in the first half. The clash turned out to be a cagey affair with both teams pushing for a result. In the dying embers of the game, Adil Khan scored the all-important equaliser to save the hosts from a shameful defeat at home.
Bangladesh vs India, 0-2 (7 June 2021)

This was India’s last win against Bangladesh in a competitive international fixture. It was the return leg of the World Cup Qualifiers. The match took place at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar.
This was another match where things could have stretched till the last minute with no goals in the first half. However, it was again Sunil Chhetri who took matters into his control and netted twice in the 79th and 90th minute, respectively, to secure a convincing result for the Blue Tigers.
Bangladesh vs India, 1-1 (4 October 2021)
The two teams met for the second time in 2021, in the SAFF Champions League in the Maldives. The Blue Tigers went on to win the tournament, but could not dominate Bangladesh in the group stage.
This was the first outing for them in that tournament, and as has been the predictable script of the encounters between these two teams, the match ended in a stalemate.
Sunil Chhetri was once again on the score sheet for the Blue Tigers. He provided the lead in the 26th minute of the first half. But Bangladesh’s grind paid off, and they equalised in the 74th minute with Yeasin Arafat’s goal.
India vs Bangladesh, 0-0 (25 March 2025)

The last encounter between the two South Asian rivals was in March earlier this year in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. It was played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong. Both teams wanted to kick-start their qualifying campaign on a positive note, but the match had something else in store for them.
With Manolo Marquez at the helm, the fans were hoping for an attractive brand of football, but it turned out to be a rather dull affair. None of the teams could score a decisive goal. The enthusiastic spectators in Shillong could not witness the brilliant performance of the Indian players as the match ended in a draw.
