Indian football team boss Igor Stimac is expected to reveal the second list soon.

It hasn’t been a memorable year for the Indian football team so far with everything going against them. The Blue Tigers started the year with a disappointing 2023 AFC Asian Cup campaign before dropping crucial points in the World Cup Qualifiers against Afghanistan in March.

The Sunil Chhetri-led side drew 0-0 in the first fixture before facing a humiliating 1-2 defeat in Guwahati and now have put their third round qualification chances into jeopardy. India are currently placed second in Group A and will face Kuwait at home on June 6 and Qatar away from home on June 11 up next.

Ahead of the qualifiers in June, India’s head coach Igor Stimac has released the first list of 26 probables for the preparatory camp to be held in Bhubaneswar. The list consists of players who have performed really well in the domestic season.

However, the list only includes the players who will not be a part of the ISL final and has excluded all the Indian internationals who are participating in the final. It is important to note that India’s head coach Igor Stimac will soon release a second list which will have more players joining the camp.

Players not called up in first list

As mentioned earlier, the first list doesn’t include a lot of key players who will be taking part in the ISL final on May 4. 13 players who were part of the previous squad have not been included in the first list and might be added in the second list. The players are:

Goalkeeper: Vishal Kaith

Defenders: Akash Mishra (currently injured), Rahul Bheke, Anwar Ali, Subhasish Bose, Mehtab Singh

Midfielders: Anirudh Thapa, Sahal Abdul Samad, Deepak Tangri, Liston Colaco, Apuia Ralte

Forwards: Lallianzuala Chhangte, Manvir Singh, Vikram Partap Singh
