Weekly Transfer Roundup: SCEB busy, Hernan Santana to NEUFC

There was a lot of movement in terms of transfers over the past seven days.
The Indian football season is fast approaching and clubs are close to completing their preparations. The transfer window was frantic to say the least and there are still some signings that were finalized. The Indian Super League and I-League are set to start later this year and the Durand Cup is already underway. The pre-season will be vital for the clubs to test their new signings and prepare before the campaign gets going.
In the past seven days, a few clubs announced new arrivals in their ranks. The outfits will hope that they did not leave any stone unturned ahead of the start of the league season. Having said that, the last-ditch efforts made to secure players could make or break their season.

There were announcements regarding new domestic and foreign signings by Indian clubs. Here is a roundup of the transfer activity from the past seven days in Indian football:
Indian Super League
SC East Bengal
SC East Bengal’s preparations may have started late but they have picked up pace. The club announced the signing of Slovenian midfielder Amir Dervisevic. The 29-year-old joins from NK Maribor, where he played 161 games for the 15-time Slovenian PrvaLiga champions and netted 18 goals.
Arindam Bhattacharya has also signed for the club ahead of the new season. The custodian was the winner of the Golden Glove last season. The former ATK Mohun Bagan player will hope to help his new employers in the eighth edition of the ISL. “I am glad to be here, can’t wait for the season to start. I want to win as many games as possible for SC East Bengal, and keep as many clean-sheets as possible,” said Arindam after penning a one-year contract.

Songpu Singsit and striker Thongkhosiem Haokip have also signed for the Red & Gold Brigade. In addition to the pair, the club also signed an extension with midfielder Sourav Das. These players will hope to perform key roles and make an impact in the forthcoming season.
Chennaiyin FC
Ninthoi Meetei has signed for Chennaiyin FC ahead of the new season. The two-time ISL winners made a last-minute offer for the midfielder on transfer deadline day. They have completed the signing of Meetei on a three-year deal from NorthEast United.
NorthEast United
NorthEast United fans have a reason to rejoice as the club agreed an extension with striker Deshorn Brown. The Jamaican will continue to represent the Highlanders after scoring five goals for them last term. “NorthEast United and Deshorn Brown have agreed a one-year contract extension. The player had offers from overseas, but he chose to remain in the ISL with the Highlanders,” a source close to the developments told Khel Now.
The club also announced the signing of Hernan Santana, who was with Mumbai City last season. Santana won the League Winners' Shield and the ISL title with the Islanders.

Mumbai City FC
Mumbai City FC announced the arrival of Bradden Inman. The Islanders will be defending their ISL crown next term and have been ambitious in the transfer market. The Australian midfielder represented ATK Mohun Bagan and Odisha FC last season.
He will be a good addition for Sergio Lobera ,who has incredible attacking options at his disposal. The likes of Igor Angulo, Cassio Gabriel and more will be raring to go and win games for MCFC.
Jamshedpur FC
Jamshedpur FC announced the signing of Pronay Halder on a loan deal from ATKMB. The Indian football team star will shore up the midfield for the Men of Steel.
Halder has over 139 appearances and will bring buckets of experience to the table. Pronay Halder started his career at the Tata Football Academy and joining JFC is a homecoming for the player.
Odisha FC
Odisha FC made a strong statement by completing the signing of Brazilian striker Jonathas de Jesus. The Juggernauts have brought in the perfect replacement to Diego Mauricio, who has departed the ISL after an impressive debut season.
The experienced striker has played in the Serie A, La Liga and Bundesliga in Europe, representing teams like Pescara, Torino, Elche, Real Sociedad and Hannover among others. He will be a force to reckon with and will pose trouble for opposition defenders.

Hyderabad FC
Abhinav Mulagada has signed for Hyderabad FC’s reserve team. He becomes the first Hyderabad-based player to sign a professional contract with the ISL club.
The young custodian has signed a long-term deal. Given the track record of HFC with young players, it is safe to say that he is in good hands.
I-League
Sreenidhi Deccan FC
The new I-League entrants Sreenidhi Deccan have been the busiest in terms of transfer activity. The outfit have assembled an interesting group of players, who will represent the club next season.
The latest arrival in the squad is Phalguni Singh from TRAU FC. The midfielder was the skipper of the Red Pythons and will hope to achieve success with his new club next term.
