India U-17 men's football team to play two friendlies against Indonesia in August 2024

The India U-17 men’s squad, currently training in Srinagar for the SAFF U-17 Championship in Bhutan and AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Thailand, will play two friendly matches against Indonesia U-17 as part of their preparations.
Among the called-up players is Usham Thoungamba Singh, who scored Punjab FC’s winner against Everton, in the Premier League Next Generation Cup 2024, scripting a record-breaking feat for Indian clubs in the competition.
Karish Soram is also one of Usham’s Punjab FC teammates belonging to the same tactical department, who was also selected by Ahmed. Aston Villa U-21 coach and former Odisha FC manager Josep Gombau had only praise for these boys and was happy to see them contest youth teams of the toughest European clubs.
Earlier yesterday, Usham’s teammate Manglengthang Kipgen, who scored in both of Punjab FC’s historic wins against Everton and Aston Villa, was called up by India U-20 national team head coach Ranjan Chaudhuri. The SAFF U-19 Championship 2023 hero will play a part in the 23-man squad taking part in the SAFF U-20 Championship 2024.
All matches of the SAFF U-17 Championship will be played at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Bali, Indonesia, on August 25 and 27, 2024. The head coach of the India U17 men’s team, Ishfaq Ahmed, has announced a 24-member squad for the tour of Indonesia.

Goalkeepers: Rohit, Aarush Hari, Suraj Singh Aheibam.
Defenders: Lekhachandra Phairembam, Mohammed Kaif, Yaipharemba Chingakham, Usham Thoungamba, Chingtham Renin Singh, Abdul Salha, Karish Soram, Jodric Abranches.
Midfielders: Banlamkupar Rynjah, Mohammad Sami, Vishal Yadav, Manbhakupar Malngiang, Mohammad Arbash, Brahmacharimayum Sumit Sharma, Ngamgouhou Mate, Ningthoukhongjam Rishi Singh, Levis Zangminlun.
Forwards: Prem Hansdak, Ahongshangbam Samson, Lairenjam Bharat, Hemneichung Lunkim.
Head coach: Ishfaq Ahmed.
