This friendly is the first of two matches against Türkiye and forms a key part of India’s overseas exposure programme. With the AFC U-17 Asian Cup draw scheduled for February 12, these games offer Fernandes a timely opportunity to test combinations, assess tactical discipline, and prepare the squad for high-intensity football.

Türkiye, meanwhile, are gearing up for the UEFA European U-17 Championship and the FIFA U-17 World Cup qualifiers. As two-time European champions at this age level, they present a stern test for the Indian side, especially in terms of tempo, physicality, and off-the-ball movement.

India U-17 enter the fixture with growing confidence. During their recent camp in Goa, the Blue Colts defeated Tajikistan U-17 4–2 before playing out a goalless draw in the second match. Those games highlighted attacking promise as well as improved defensive organisation, both of which will be examined closely against a technically strong Turkish team.
