Sirvodem Sports Club awarded direct entry in Indian Women's League

The Goa State Women’s champions have been awarded a direct entry into the final round thus avoiding the playoffs.
The Goa State Women Champions of 4th GFA Vedanta Women’s Championship – Sirvodem Sports Club have been awarded a direct entry in the final round of Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2020-21, according to the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Ms. Indu Choudhary, Sr. Manager, Leagues Dept/Women’s League, stated that the final round will be held in Bhubaneshwar from April 23 to May 27 with the team consisting of 23 players and 4 officials.
Mr. Churchill Alemao, GFA President, stated that the GFA’s efforts to secure a direct entry in the final round of IWL bore fruit with the AIFF taking into consideration the excellent organization of the League in which Sirvodem Sports Club emerged as undisputed champions.
Mr. Lavinio Rebello, Senior Vice-President, whilst thanking the AIFF, highlighted that it has been due to Mr. Churchill’s intervention and pleading that the Goa State Women’s champions have been awarded a direct entry into the final round thus avoiding the play-offs.
Sirvodem Sports Club were overjoyed with the entry into the final round and head coach Girijadevi Desai opined it will be a big morale booster for the girls. It will allow more time to upgrade the technical aspect and we shall definitely raise our performance.
