The Blue Tigers will want to start their preparation for the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers with a win.
We are just some hours away before India play Bahrain in an international friendly at the Muharraq Stadium in Arad. The match will also mark the Blue Tigers’ return to the international circuit after five long months.
India coach Igor Stimac is eager to get his new boys tested at the international stage and see how ready they are ahead of the country’s AFC Asian Cup third-round qualifiers at Kolkata in June later this year. The head coach named a 25-member final squad for the friendlies against Bahrain and Belarus. India will, however, miss quite a few players for the match against Bahrain. As many six players were ruled out from the Bahrain friendly after only reaching the country earlier today morning due to Visa issues.
Stimac has also stated that he won’t be using any of those players that participated in the ISL final three days ago. The multiple absentees mean India could be left with 14-15 players to choose from for the match against Bahrain.

“I still don’t know what I’m going to try. I’m yet to know how many players I’ll be having here for the games. Then I’ll try to manage to put the best XI and try a few things,” said Stimac at the pre-match press conference.
“As you noticed the ISL was extremely exciting and we’ve seen some new players which is really optimistic for us. I’m going to give chance to the new boys and check how they can do at the international level against stronger opposition and if we can count on them for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.”
